I’m most excited for my 7-year-old daughter to experience what real impact feels like.

Here’s what I’ve learned through volunteering with Lighthouse and Make-A-Wish: families fighting childhood cancer rarely get quality time together.

They’re consumed by medical bills, hospital stays, and a kind of exhaustion most of us will never understand.

Lighthouse Family Retreat changes that.

They provide week-long retreats where families can recharge, reconnect, and enjoy quality time - completely FREE of charge.

The best thing I ever did as a working mom was stop trying to do it all.

For years, I forgot everything. Snack day. Dress-up day. Gymnastics practice. I even forgot a field trip once.

It wasn’t because I didn’t care. It was because my brain was so overloaded, the things that mattered most were the first to slip.

Here’s what I didn’t know:
When your nervous system is stuck in survival mode, your memory, organization, and presence suffer first.
It’s not a character flaw. It’s physiology.

What changed everything:
Learning to regulate my nervous system. Not through willpower—through small, sustainable shifts.

It looked like: → Stopping work at 3pm to move my body (even with emails left)
→ Saying no to events when our calendar was too full
→ Taking 5 minutes alone when the kids got home before starting dinner
→ No more pushing workouts to 5pm, then canceling them
→ No more doom scrolling before bed
→ Getting up at 5:15am even when I wanted to sleep in

Small shifts. Big impact.

Now I remember the field trips. I show up present. I don’t yell when the house is chaotic.

Not because I’m perfect. Because my brain has the capacity now.

Being healthy as a busy mom isn’t about perfection - it’s about small, intentional choices.

Here are a few simple habits I’m prioritizing lately:
• Fresh, simple foods
• Learning to grow our own food
• Composting
• Homemade fermented foods
• Clean eating when possible

None of this is perfect.
None of this is all the time.

But small habits compound - and they support my energy, focus, and resilience.
