Cougar Crew welcomes Leon Maurer to our team, serving as the new assistant coach.

Leon Maurer joins the Cougars from Berkeley, CA, where he coached the Berkeley High School varsity boys for the last seven years. During his time in the Bay, he also briefly coached the Cal Lightweights and East Bay Rowing Club masters. Leon learned to row at Berkeley High, where he was team captain and competed at Youth National Championships his senior year. He continued rowing at Orange Coast College, racing in the 2V at ACRA his second year. His passion for rowing and love for coaching continue to fuel his ambitions as he begins his next chapter at WSU.

This past weekend the Cougs flew to Tennessee for the ACRA national championship.

The weekend saw heartbreaking loss, definitive wins and late stage comebacks. It takes all of us, every day, to push the team forward. Despite tough competition, the teams eights improved in every category, with each crew moving up in the rankings from the year before. This year also saw the addition of a third varsity eight, a testament to the depth of the varsity squad.

Congratulations to our seniors! Today they graduate from college and begin the next chapter of their lives. Each of them have contributed to the teams progression substantially, and they will all be missed.
