With an acclaimed medalist program providing regular adjudication by national and international judge and as an accredited dance major, the ballroom emphasis allows students to receive beginning through advanced training in American and International styles of Standard Ballroom and Latin American Dance. With more than 4,000 students enrolling in ballroom dance classes each year, this university pr

ogram is the largest of its kind. Students have several on-campus opportunities for performance, including the BYU and United States DanceSport Championships and the annual Ballroom in Concert. The BYU Ballroom Dance Company tours nationally and internationally and has traveled throughout Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, the South Pacific, Australia, and to the Far East, entertaining audiences of all ages. The company is the undefeated U.S. Formation Champion and has won the prestigious British Formation Championships numerous times. All courses offered in the Ballroom program are open to dance majors and non-dance majors. A ballroom minor is also available (16 credits).

Meet AVA MECHAM ⭐️ | Latin Team

Ava is from Bonney Lake, Washington, and studying Exercise Science! 💪🧬
She’s been dancing for nine years and her favorite dance is Cabaret.
When asked why she wanted to join the Touring Company she said:
“I wanted to continue the legacy of my parents by joining the team. More importantly, I wanted to share the amazing light that comes from dancing with a united team with people from all over the world.” 🩷
FUN FACT! 🤸‍♀️ Ava was a competitive gymnast for eleven years! 🙌

To her teammates, Ava says, “Remember Grit - if we can have passion + perseverance we can accomplish great things together! Love you all!”

Thank you to Acharya Jayalakshmi Eshwar and her disciples for teaching us about the rich history of Indian classical dance and for a beautiful showcase of the Bharatanatyam dance style.
And to Shri Sanjeet Gangmi and Smt. Arti Shrivastava Gedam for the spectacular Kathak dance style demonstration.
Our dancers were able to learn so much! ❤️

When asked why he wanted to join the Touring Company he said:
“I was so excited to be on the company because I love dancing and it has allowed me to share my love of dancing all around the world!” 🙌
FUN FACT! 🤵‍♂️JUSTIN’S ENGAGED !! He popped the question right before we left for Blackpool. ✨

To his teammates, Justin says, “The greatest accomplishment I look back on is the team we built; together we’ve done amazing things!”

Meet JACEE PETERSON ⭐️ | Ballroom Team

Jacee is from Saratoga Springs, Utah, and studying Communications! 🫵💬
She’s been dancing for fifteen years and her favorite dance is International Waltz.
When asked why she wanted to join the Touring Company she said:
“Growing up, I heard about my mom’s time on the company and how it impacted her life. I wanted to be apart of something so remarkable when I grew up too! Being able to share the light of Christ through dance has certainly been as life-changing as mom said.” 🥹
FUN FACT! 🌱 Jacee’s least favorite food is anything green! Unless it’s her Grandpa Brent’s green beans, or drowning in ranch, she doesn’t want it! 😷

To her teammates, Jacee says, “I know being on this team is a blessing from my Savior. Every rehearsal, performance, and tour has reaffirmed to me that we are here together for a reason. I LOVE YOU GUYS!😚”

Jack is from Auburn, Washington, and studying Computer Science! ⌨️🧐
He’s been dancing for twelve years and his favorite dance is the Slow Foxtrot.
When asked why he wanted to join the Touring Company he said:
“Since I’m from Washington, I didn’t know much about the touring company and didn’t know what to expect. I was unprepared for how amazing and enriching the tours are. This is an opportunity that won’t be repeated in my life!” 🙌
FUN FACT! 🧗 Jack did a bit of mountaineering back in the day. He’s climbed Mt Rainie, Mt Adams and Mt Baker. One of the routes he took had more than a hundred feet of ice climbing! 🏔️

To his teammates, Jack says, “LET’S GOOOOOO!”
