Saturday night we go to a buck that was potentially a liver shot. We get to hit site around 8:30that night. At about 230 yards into the track we come to an empty bed with blood. That's just past where the hunter had last blood. The buck was bumped when the hunter was searching for last blood. 3/4 of a mile later we come to another bed with blood an no deer. We continue on for another 300 yards when I thought I heard a deer get up about 50 yards ahead of us. We talk with the hunter an decided its best to leave an come back in the morning. The next morning we pick up where we left off an go 260 yards to the prize. The arrow had cut the liver an exited thru the guts. Arrow an blood showed no sign of guts so it was a shock to see. We find out later that the buck was jumped from his second bed by the neighbors when they saw him laying in a field.

So the 2022 season is under way. We started out Saturday night on a track for a for a youth hunters first deer. When we got the call his dad said the buck was at 31 yards an his son accidentally used the 20 yard dot. He said the shot hit low but not sure how low. We put Boone on the line an away we went. The deer weaved his way about 300 yards to the top of a mountain. After reaching the top we all agreed it was best to leave an resume the track in the morning for fear of jumping the buck from his bed. The next morning we picked up the track an started down the other side this time with no blood. After a couple hundred yards Boone really started to pick up the pace. As soon as he did we knew we had jumped the buck. All in we went 1 an 3/4 miles with spotty blood after he left his first bed an decided to call it. Best we could think of was a low leg shot. The next track was for a doe. We were able to track to her first wound bed then all of a sudden Boone started searching. I had restarted him a couple times an to no avail. For some reason he could not take us past her first bed. Sunday morning we go for a ride to track a buck a hunter shot the day before. Hunter said he thought he made a good shot but couldn't find any blood. We get to the hit site a gave Boone his command an away we go. He pick his way out a very steep side hill going very slow an making a lot of checks almost to the point I am think he is off. But with no blood you have nothing else to go by. As the track continued we are starting to work our way up as we go an the hunter said are u sure he's right I never had a deer go this way. 550 yards later my son an tracking partner said (DAD WE GOT BLOOD!) The blood was on a small sapling fairly high up so I started thinking it's probably just a high back hit an not fatal. Boone continued on for another 200 yards then the hunter finally called it. Not the way we were hoping for the season to start off 0/3 but if there not dead you can't recover them. All in all I was very happy the way Boone was tracking. He's definitely ready for the next one!

Boones on the board! Got a call last night from a hunter that shot a buck with a recurve an hit just a tad back. Today he sent me the video footage of the shot an we agreed it was farther back than he would've liked. So we got to the hit site at the 20 hour mark an gave Boone the command an off we went or so we thought. Bit of a struggle to pick the right line but eventually got us to the buck. Congrats Frank on an awesome trad bow buck!
