People don't take you seriously because of how you carry yourself, not what you say.
The words are fine. The request was clear. "I need this by Friday." They said yes.
Then Friday comes and they don't have it. Sorry, got busy.
You did everything right on paper. So what's happening?
Underneath the words, there's a signal. The signal says either, "this matters to me and I'm going to follow up on it," or it says, "this is a request but if you ignore it nothing will happen." People read that signal in milliseconds. They respond to it, not to your words.
The aura of authority isn't volume. It's the willingness to take your own request seriously enough to confront it when it gets ignored. People can feel that. And they adjust.
