Many women prepare for the surgery itself.

They research the procedure.
They ask questions.
They make plans for recovery.

But what often catches them off guard is everything that comes after.

The exhaustion that lasts longer than expected.

The emotions that seem to come out of nowhere.

The frustration of wanting to feel like yourself again but not quite being there yet.

One of the things women tell me most often is:

"I wasn't prepared for this part."

Recovery isn't just physical.

It's emotional.
It's mental.
It's personal.

And if that's where you are right now, please know that you're not behind, you're not failing, and you're certainly not alone.

What's something you wish someone had told you before your recovery?

I also put together a free guide covering the 5 biggest mistakes women make during hysterectomy recovery (and how to avoid them).

Comment MISTAKES below and I'll send it to you.

One of the biggest misconceptions about hysterectomy is this:

“If they keep my ovaries, I won’t have to worry about menopause.”

I wish it were that simple.

What many women aren’t told is that even when the ovaries are left in place, their function can still be affected after surgery.

For some women, that means menopause symptoms show up earlier than expected.

The frustrating part?

Many women spend months wondering why they suddenly feel different.

Why their sleep has changed.

Why their energy is lower.

Why their body doesn’t feel like it used to.

And nobody connects it back to their hysterectomy.

This isn’t about fear.

It’s about information.

Because when you know what to watch for, you can get the right support sooner.

Did anyone talk to you about this before your surgery?

Yes or no?

Let me know in the comments.

Most women go into a hysterectomy expecting recovery to be fairly straightforward.

A few weeks of rest.
A follow-up appointment.
Then life goes back to normal.

But for many women, that's not what happens.

What surprises them isn't always the surgery itself.

It's everything that comes after.

The pelvic floor changes no one mentioned.

The hormonal shifts that can happen even when your ovaries are left in place.

The emotions that seem to appear out of nowhere.

The moments where you wonder,
"Why didn't anyone tell me this?"

Here's what shocked me:

1 in 3 women will have a hysterectomy by age 60.

That's not a rare surgery.

It's one of the most common procedures women undergo.

And yet so many women still feel completely unprepared for recovery.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'm sharing some of the things women deserve to know before and after hysterectomy.

Not to scare you.

To help you feel informed, supported, and more confident about what to expect.

✨ Recovery isn't linear.

Many women expect to feel better quickly after surgery, but healing often takes longer than anticipated. Some days you may feel strong and hopeful, while other days you may need more rest and support.

Both experiences are normal.

Give yourself permission to heal at your own pace. Rest is not a sign of weakness or a lack of progress. It's an essential part of recovery.

Your body is doing important work behind the scenes. Trust the process, be kind to yourself, and remember that every step forward counts. 💛

Women were never meant to navigate midlife alone.

The journey through perimenopause and menopause can feel overwhelming, but healing happens differently when we feel seen, understood, and supported by others who truly get it.

That’s exactly why Pause Together was created — a safe, supportive community where women can connect, share experiences, and find guidance through every stage of midlife.

You don't have to do this alone. 💜

Your body is not failing you.
It may simply be asking for more support. 🤍

Midlife symptoms like brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, disrupted sleep, and feeling constantly “on edge” are often signs of an overwhelmed nervous system — not a sign that you’re doing something wrong.

Sometimes healing doesn’t begin with doing more.
Sometimes it begins with slowing down, creating safety, nourishing your body, and giving yourself permission to rest.

Small shifts can create meaningful healing.

Which symptom resonates with you most right now?

Many women prepare for the surgery.
But very few are prepared for everything that comes after.

The fatigue that lingers longer than expected.
The emotional ups and downs.
The nervous system overwhelm.
The grief, relief, anger, or identity shifts that can quietly surface during recovery.

Hysterectomy healing is not only physical.
It’s emotional, mental, hormonal, and deeply personal too.

You deserve support that cares for the whole woman — not just the procedure.
