Anxious attachment doesn't stay in your relationships, it shows up in your inbox too! At work! I used to reread every message like it was evidence against me. Take the free quiz, What Kind of Anxious Attacher Are You, at anxiousattachmentstyle.com and see how deep this pattern actually runs!

Most nervous system research was built on male bodies and male stress cycles. That’s not a conspiracy theory. That’s just science that hasn’t caught up to us yet. Women’s hormones shift daily. Our stress response isn’t fight or flight, it’s often fawn or freeze. Our capacity changes with our cycle, our history, our nervous system’s wiring from years of being taught to shrink, please, and perform safety instead of feel it. We are not broken for struggling to regulate in a body that was never fully studied. We are pioneers learning our own systems from the inside out. Educate yourself on your nervous system like your peace depends on it. Because it does! ing

Understanding someone’s avoidant attachment ≠ accepting poor treatment Avoidant attachment can explain the behavior. It doesn’t excuse it girl You can have empathy for someone’s wounds AND have standards for how you’re treated. Your healing isn’t learning to tolerate emotional unavailability. It’s learning to choose secure love. 🤍 Ready to go anxious → secure? Anxious to Secure is linked in my bio.

If you tend to shut down during conflict or you tend to over give and over apologize just to keep the peace, this is your nervous system talking!! Fawn and freeze are survival responses. Somewhere along the way your body learned that going quiet or making yourself smaller was safer than speaking up. That response saved you once. The problem is it doesn’t know the difference between a real threat and a hard conversation with someone you love. So it keeps firing in situations where you’re actually safe now, and you end up disappearing in your own relationships without even realizing you’re doing it. One of the simplest ways to start shifting this is movement. Consistent movement helps your body complete the stress response instead of holding onto it, which is often what keeps you stuck in fawn or freeze in the first place. You don't need to become less needy. You need to become more discerning.

Those aren't the same skill, and mixing them up is why so many women with anxious attachment spend years managing their own reactions instead of raising their standards!

Discernment isn't a personality trait you either have or don't. It's a practice: noticing what someone does instead of what they promise. Slowing down before you explain away something that bothered you. Letting a person's actions answer the questions your nervous system keeps asking so you don't have to keep asking them yourself.

If you've been told you're "too much" in dating, this is usually why. The issue was never that you cared quickly. No one taught you how to evaluate what you were caring about.

What's one thing you pay attention to now that you used to talk yourself out of? Tell me below.

People always ask me how I healed my attachment style, so here is the honest answer. You have to believe you can change in order to change, that belief comes first, not after. Healing anxious attachment is not about waiting until you feel ready, it is choosing to trust the process before you have proof. Save this if you needed the reminder today. What helped you start believing change was possible for you, tell me in the comments, I read every single one.

It is me, I have very high unrealistic expectations, apparently. Things like wanting someone to be consistent, communicate, and not leave you guessing where you stand. If that sounds unrealistic to you too, you are exactly who this page is for. Save this for the next time someone tells you that you are asking for too much. What is your most unrealistic expectation, tell me in the comments, I already know this community has thoughts.

Nothing scarier than someone who is actually consistent, and this breaks down why. Avoidant attachment shows up in the smallest ways, testing if he stays, picking a fight about nothing, needing space right when things are going well. It is not that you do not want love, it is that staying has never felt safe before. Save this for the next time you catch yourself pulling away from something good. Which one of these describes you the most, tell me in the comments, this community always gets it.
