Flexible doesn’t mean body-safe.

A lot of people assume plastic is the better option especially for oral piercings but flexibility doesn’t equal biocompatibility.

Most plastic jewelry can scratch and develop microscopic surface damage. Over time, it can breakdown.

If you need a clear or retainer-style option for extended wear, glass is a much safer long-term alternative🩷 *we carry temporary plastic retainers and some glass at the shop!

Not all hoops are one-size-fits-all.

This client loved the cuff look and purchased a hoop online, but unfortunately the diameter wasn’t right for her anatomy. The jewelry put so much pressure on the piercing that it cut into her ear and was very painful to remove.

I’ve placed the hoop diameter she should have purchased next to the size that actually fit her ear. The difference doesn’t look huge, but when it comes to body jewelry, a few millimeters can completely change how a piercing feels.

If you’re ever unsure about sizing, ask your piercer before ordering jewelry. Your ears will thank you🩷
