Photo dump of the last 2 weekends of racing at Silver City.

Our 2026 racing season has come to an end. I think that our race team & our journey is a very good example of "thats just racing" for lack of better terms. And just about ever thing that you could experience, season to season, We've been through it. It's been a journey for sure.

We didn't have as much success as we had hoped for this year but we definitely had a crew rallying for us in every way that they possibly could. And that really meant alot to us.

As his parents, we are happy he made the decision to stay another year. Who wouldnt want to spend every weekend for 7 months out of the year with their children before they get too old & would rather choose their friends.

So, we do some work this offseason & come back new & refreshed next year!

As his mother, I knew exactly what he was thinking while he watched her drive.

Little does she know, she is one of a few reasons Mauritzio made the decision tonite that he will not be retiring & plans to return next year.

It was a tough week for him, writing his speech, recording his speech. And then watching her drive tonite knowing she might be in heavys next year sort of sealed it.

Emotionally, it hit him this week. Racing quarter midgets at Silver City has been half of his childhood & it just happens to be the half that kids really start remembering. Silver City is home to him & his friends, conpetitors & their families are HIS extended family.

We still plan to finish the last 2 races out at Silver City. Maybe travel a bit in the winter & come back next year refreshed & ready to make more memories.

Two days of racing for Mauritzio. Saturday a points race and today a makeup points race.

Saturday: P3 Heavy 160
Sunday: P2 Heavy 160
P3 Heavy World Formula

He set a goal to podium in WF this year and this weekend he did just that. 💛

There's not much information about the races, I'm not really paying attention to anything but him.

We have 2 races left at Silver City. We are trying our best to enjoy every second. He had an amazing weekend with his friends and ultimately thats what its all about. Because, if you do it right, the journey was never about the wins or losses but enjoying the ride together with his friends.

We had a few weeks off. We had some chassis repairs to make for a few weeks and then Mother Nature.

As his mother, I have to be honest, I'm really not paying attention to how each race goes, remembering details to provide here because my sole focus when he is on the track is him. I dont take my eyes off of him. Not even to look at the lap count anymore.

Because, our driver has decided to retire this year.

And I only have a few more weekends with him, so I honestly don't worry too much about anything other than soaking it all in.

Here's a photo dump of the last few races. A second place finish and a hard charger award today.

Now THAT I remember. His WF time trials were pretty much a mess. He started last in the B main. P8-P5. That started him 9th in the A main. P9-P4.

Mauritzio & his team are taking the weekend off. Unfortunately we didnt get our 160 shocks back in time. We had planned on running our xwing with our 160 and use a friends wf car.

However, as a team, we sponsored the Heavy 160 Superfeature. Good luck to all drivers today but especially those in heavy 160.

Thank you to everyone who reached out the past few weeks to unite together and try to get our driver on the track. A special thanks to Joe and Jonathan Fagan for the WF car. We are sorry you didnt get to see the Stallion drive it this weekend. Thank you to Mike Q and Johnny Morgillo for having talks with our driver.

We will never regret supporting our club especially with trackside signs. As a racemom the signs and banners are my favorite keepsake. We have some shelves to get but seeing the signs up made me happy to see.

It wasn't our weekend.

Somehow, someway, we managed to flip the car not just once but 2 days in a row.

Due to our mistakes as handlers, Mauritzio took a few hits.

Friday evening, at practice, he went on two wheels & flipped his car, twice in a row, 6 feet in the air. From what everyone told me yesterday, Friday's situation was pretty intense, people telling me they've never seen a flip like that.

We attempted to set up the car for Saturday's points race & failed again.

Mauritzio started P2 in the main & very quickly found himself in P1. Holding that spot after several restarts. He fell back a position and tried his damndest to hold onto the car, losing speed because he had to lift in the corners but maintained in that 2nd place spot even with lifting. He unfortunately came up on a lapped car very quickly & did the best he could with the 12 year old problem solving skills that he has & unfortunately it ended up on 2 wheels again, in the air flip & landed on his side.
P2-DNF

We made the decision as a team to pack up for the day & head home.

He did win his 160 heat race tho 💛 heat race champ!

He is ok. Seat belt brusises around his neck & collar bone area and a scratch & bruise near his left eye, sore muscles but an even more bruised heart. There's not one driver in the world who doesn't feel sad when they are being carted off in the cars they love, the cars they've developed trust with & the cars that have single handedly molded them through their adolescent years.

Back to the drawing board.

Mauritzio & his race team took the weekend off from racing to travel to Ohio & spend time with family & attend a yearly family reunion.

When it comes to heat races, we are clutch!

Yesterday. Silver City points race sponsored by Ryan Preece Racing.

Heavy 160 Heat: P4-P1
Heavy WF Heat: P1-P1

An invert of 4 was pulled.

Heavy 160 A main: P3-P2. The car was fast, performed well. Several restarts. Fell back 1 spot & then powered by to P2. Overall, very happy.

Heavy WF A main: P4-P6. Unfortunately, the car tightened up, we lost some speed and spots however Mauritzio did an excellent job holding onto it.

Yesterday our club decided to go with rules that if there was an incident, you and the other driver involved both go tail & from our team's perspective, the driving yesterday was very clean & the timing of the raceday went quick and pretty smooth. We were home after tech and awards by 1030pm.
