Congrats to our first Class of 2028 commit, 17 Elite pin Ela Hernandez, who’s staying home to play D1 volleyball at Robert Morris University!

Ela was a standout on 16 Elite last season, and she’s stepping into a big leadership role on 17 Elite this year. We are so proud and excited  to watch her keep growing her game right here in Pittsburgh!!

Congrats to 18 Elite Outside Hitter Aubrey Blank on her commitment to Lock Haven University!

We are beyond thrilled to have Aubrey spend her last club season with us at PEVA. We cannot wait to see what she adds to our 18 Elite team this season and are so excited to watch her excel at the collegiate level next year.

Calling all 7th and 8th grade female athletes! Get ready for middle school tryouts with PEVA.

Work on serving, passing, setting, hitting, and blocking while getting comfortable with game speed and rotations before tryout day. Drills, situational play, and scrimmages, built to sharpen communication, court awareness, and teamwork.

We are so proud to congratulate 18 Elite Pin/DS Marin Katona-Bock on her commitment to Carnegie Mellon University where she will play D3 volleyball for the Tartans!

Marin has grown up in our gym and left an huge mark on our program over the years. She was a key piece on 17 Elite last season, and we’re expecting big things from her on 18 Elite this year.

We are so excited to watch her write the next chapter at CMU ♥️🖤

Congratulations to 18 Elite pin Cami Mueller on her commitment to Pitt-Johnstown to play D2 volleyball for the Mountain Cats!

Cami was a huge force on 17 Elite last season and we know she’s ready to make big moves on 18 Elite this year. We’ve been lucky to watch her grow up in our gym into an amazing player and an incredible leader, on and off the court.

What a weekend.

More than 640 athletes joined us for our pre-tryout and tryout events, bringing an incredible level of talent, competitiveness, and energy to the gym.

Thank you to every athlete who stepped on the court, every parent who supported the process, and every coach who dedicated their time throughout the weekend. Your commitment helped make this one of the largest and strongest tryout weekends in PEVA’s history.

As we begin our 44th season, we’re excited about the talent coming through our program and what lies ahead for Pittsburgh volleyball.

Next up in our Master Positional Coach series: Renata Gray!

Renata brings a truly international playing background and 15+ years of coaching experience to PEVA. Originally from São Caetano do Sul, Brazil, Renata starred as a setter at California University of PA, earning 3x All-American and 4x All-Regional and All-Conference honors.

After 2 years as a collegiate assistant coach, Renata has spent the past 15 years coaching youth volleyball, developing athletes at the highest levels of competition.

Her 17U teams have earned both 3rd and 5th place finishes at the USAV National Championships, a testament to her ability to build competitive, successful programs.

Renata’s blend of elite playing pedigree and long-standing coaching success makes her a fantastic addition to our Master’s Positional coaching staff.

Introducing our next Masters Positional Coach: Dave Evans

Dave brings a resume built on elite-level competition at every stage.

A Penfield, NY native and Stevens Institute of Technology grad, he was the 2015 Division III National Player of the Year and led Stevens to a national championship that same year, earning AVCA All-American honors in both 2012 and 2015.

His career has taken him from NCAA competition to international play with TG Rüsselsheim in Germany, and into the professional/elite ranks with the NVA and VLA, where he’s a national champion in both leagues (2019, 2022, 2023) and an All-VLA Second Team selection. He continues to compete today at the highest levels of outdoor, beach, and grass volleyball.

On the coaching side, Dave led 18 Elite to USAV Nationals during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, and has continued training and developing PEVA athletes every season.

An engineer by trade and a competitor at heart, Dave brings the same drive and attention to detail that made him one of the most decorated players in the country to developing PEVA’s athletes. Welcome, Dave!

Introducing our first Master Positional Coach: Molly Tuman!

Molly brings an incredible resume back to PEVA. A Mishawaka, Indiana native and Penn High School grad, she played outside hitter at the University of Kentucky, where she’s the program’s #2 all-time kill leader, and went on to compete for the USA National Team.

Molly coached with Pittsburgh Elite in the past and now returns to PEVA after also spending 9 seasons at North Allegheny High School, helping coach the Tigers to 8 consecutive PIAA state championships.

She’s also co-owner of RAW Training in the North Hills of Pittsburgh where she trains athletes to build strength and confidence and is also the proud mom to PEVA alum and current Ohio State setter, Mia Tuman.

We are so thrilled to welcome Molly back to develop our athletes at the highest level!
