Participated in New Pioneers 1st sporting clays event at their new faculty today . What another great addition this will be to our state for sporting clays . Great targets - great terrain , trees and open range to work with for setting some great targets . Knowing how much work is involved in setting something like this up - they have done a good job and put in a lot of work. Go check it out.

Black Oak Clays will be hosting a registered NSCA event Saturday May 16 and Sunday May 17. Those new to sporting clays , you do not need to be a NSCA member to participate. We will have 2 different courses set up with a hoop event on each course.
We have added something new to our sporting clays course - which you will find on the Red Course.
The red course will have a Super Sporting course set up on it with the hoop event being a regular sporting clays course. European rotation. Shooting begins at 9:00 am and last squad out at 3:00 p.m. There will be concessions available on site. Carts and side x sides are welcome. Golf carts can be rented from an off – site vendor, FJ Adventures 641-638-4322. The white course ( 1st round and hoop event) is also a concurrent SCTP event for league scores for those in that program. 500 registered targets available. You will need to fill out a waiver for the 2026 season. There will be copies at the range or available from the website.

Black Oak Clays will be having a registered NSCA 200 target challenge Saturday and Sunday September 27 and 28 with Highland Hideaway in Riverside, IA. The 200-target challenge is 100 targets shot at Black Oak Clays and 100 targets shot a Highland Hideaway for a combined score. Awards are done Lewis Class. You would have needed to shoot at Highland Hideaway August 23 or 24 to be eligible for awards. Those new to sporting clays- you do not have to be a NSCA member to participate. We have two different courses set up with a hoop event on each course. We will have Super Sporting and regular sporting clays set up on the Red Course. Shooting begins at 8:30 am and we ask last squad out by 3:00 pm. The white course main and hoop event will count for SCTP for those in that program. The new SCTP program begins September 1. Make sure your SCTP form is e-signed and dues paid prior for this shoot to count for a league SCTP score.

So many of you commented how fun the Black Oak Covey was – it will be available again this shoot - If you are looking for a fun challenge … we have a side event set up on the Red Course called the Black Oak Covey Shoot. You must have a semi-auto or a pump gun capable of holding 3 shells. Instead of true pairs on all 10 stations, there will be 3 targets thrown at the same time totaling 102 targets over the 10 stations. So, if you like shooting true pair events- this event is for you. The Black Oak Covey event is not NSCA registered.
