Met these two on the back nine.

This is what happens when a course gets built around the Atchafalaya Basin instead of bulldozed on top of it. You share the property with whatever lives here, and that's part of the round.

60+ bird species. Alligators in the water hazards. Deer at sunrise. And, apparently, a pair of raccoons keeping an eye on us this week.

If you slow your round down enough to look around, the course gives you more than golf.

We're closed today. Ongoing rain and lightning in the area, and safety has to come first.

We know it's Memorial Day weekend and a Saturday tee time is a hard one to give up. We hate it too.

Plan is to reopen tomorrow. We'll play it by ear based on the weather and post an update here in the morning. Sunday and Monday are still on the table.

The Atchafalaya clubhouse restaurant is open to the public. Tuesday through Saturday, 11 AM to 9 PM. Sunday, 11 AM to 2 PM. Closed Monday.

Cajun fare and fresh favorites. Po'boys, burgers, etouffee, jambalaya, red beans and rice, shrimp cocktails. New Orleans City Business Magazine named it one of the top restaurants in the area.

Sit on the 22-foot back porch overlooking 9 and 18. Cypress walls, pine floors, real food, and a view most restaurants in Acadiana don't have.

The Atchafalaya Golf Commission has been working closely with our agronomic consultant over the last nine months to develop a protocol for inter-seeding our putting greens with Pure Dynasty Seeded Paspalum (Paspalum), which will eventually replace the Champions Bermuda now in their 22nd growing season. Weather conditions are now favorable to begin implementing our plan. The initial herbicide application to control competing grasses and sedges began the first week of May. A second herbicide application will be made the week of May 18th. These herbicide applications will cause the existing greens to turn off-color, but the Champions Bermuda should begin to recover by early June.

Site preparation of the greens to receive the Paspalum seed will begin the first week of June, and inter-seeding with Paspalum seed is scheduled for the third week of June. Depending upon ambient temperatures and cloud cover, the Paspalum seed should begin to germinate by the second week of July.

We anticipate minimal impacts to the putting surface during this transition, which will take the remainder of the current growing season. This conversion will temporarily affect the overall condition of the greens, but rest assured, our plan includes proactive measures to mitigate any negative effects on the putting surfaces during the conversion to Paspalum.

We are excited about this project and ask for your patience and support as we continue to strive to make the Atchafalaya the best it can be.

The smart play is your most accurate fairway wood, short of the bunkers, then a layup around the stand of trees on the second dog-leg. Short iron in, open green, real chance at birdie.

The bombers can try to carry the water and shorten the hole. The risk is real. So is the reward.

This is a hole that rewards a plan. Von Hagge didn't design it for one type of player. He designed it for the player who can think their way around.

Saturday and Sunday tee times are open.

Bring the regular foursome. Or bring someone who has never played here before. Either way, the course is in shape and the clubhouse is open after the round.
