W.R.A.P is OPEN....tell a friend! 😎

🌊After weeks of flooding and watching the river do whatever it wanted, the Wolf has finally settled down and we’re rolling out trips starting TOMORROW.The river looks amazing, the weather is perfect, and we are READY to get y’all back on the water.

Reservations are still preferred while levels continue to stabilize.. but the adventure is ON!

We’ve missed the laughter, the splashes, the families, the first‑timers, the regulars… all of it.

Season Update – Wolf River

Adventurers, quick update on this season.

The Wolf River has had a rough start due to an extreme amount of rain—over 35 inches in the past 60 days at the headwaters. That kind of rainfall has kept water levels too high and unstable for safe trips.

We’re finally getting close to being able to run again this weekend, but conditions can still change quickly with even a small amount of rain. That means last-minute cancellations are still possible as we prioritize safety on the water.

Thank you all for your patience and support—it means everything to us. We’re ready to get back out there as soon as the river allows.

🌊 STEM Spotlight: The Wolf River Floodplain

After the recent flooding, the Wolf River is showing floodplain science in action. When water spills out of the channel and spreads across the floodplain, it slows down and drops sediment like sand, silt, and organic material.
This process helps build fertile soils, reshape banks, form new sandbars, and recharge groundwater. Floodplains also reduce flood energy downstream by temporarily storing and spreading out water.

Fresh mud lines, debris caught in trees, and shifted sandbars are all evidence of how the river actively reshapes itself after high water events.

🔬 Hydrology, erosion, and deposition—visible right after a flood.

🌊 The Mystery of the "Pids" 🌊

Ever wonder what creates the small rapids, or "pids," on our 4.5-mile trail?
The answer is clay. Beneath the river's white sand are ancient clay deposits that resist erosion better than the surrounding sand. Where these clay shelves become exposed, water speeds up as it flows over them, creating the waves and riffles we paddle through.

There are three pids on the 4.5-mile route, but none on the lower 10.6-mile stretch, where the river is dominated by sand and slower-moving water.

🛶 Every pid is a glimpse into the Wolf River's geologic past—millions of years in the making! 🔬🌎

Good Sunday Morning Adventurers!

The river is FINALLY receding back into its banks and the weather looks to be improving. I would say another 24 to 48 hours and we should operable again!

As of 5/23 still battling the rain and rising rivers. Unfortunately looks as though we will be down for a few days.

🌿 Did you know...

The Wolf River in Harrison County is one of South Mississippi’s most ecologically diverse waterways? It is home to longleaf pine uplands, rich wetlands, and wildlife that depend on a clean, connected habitat.

Thanks to recent conservation partnerships, over 14,000 acres along the Wolf River are now permanently protected, safeguarding water quality, restoring longleaf pine ecosystems, and supporting species like the gopher tortoise.

Every paddle, every hike, every quiet moment by the water is part of a living landscape that’s being protected for future generations.

🛶Real adventures.
🌳Real conservation.
