Shoutout to rockstar baddie Cari King, who just completed her very first BDR… the Lost Coast! 🏍️🔥

She finished it off with 140 miles of mostly dirt in the rain, because apparently “first BDR” wasn’t badass enough without adding mud, clouds and a little coastal exposure. 😜

What do motorcycles and self-defense have in common? More than you might think. 🏍️🥊

Self-defense isn’t about looking for a fight. It’s about awareness, confidence, trusting your instincts, and knowing you can respond when something doesn’t feel right.

It’s something members of our community had the opportunity to explore firsthand during the Grit Moto Ranch x SheADV Basecamp self-defense course this July—and something SheADV volunteer Lera has discovered extends far beyond the gym.

For women who ride, those lessons can come with us on the motorcycle: traveling solo, stopping somewhere unfamiliar, or simply navigating the unexpected.

The goal isn’t to be fearless. It’s to stay aware, keep thinking, keep moving, and trust yourself to act when you need to.

Lera shares what self-defense and motorcycles have taught her about confidence, awareness, and being prepared for the unexpected.

What an absolutely magical weekend! It was an honor to train some of you, meet so many incredible new riders, and watch our returning students absolutely kickin’ it out there like the trail queens they are. Watching your skills grow, your confidence soar, and your friendships blossom is why we do this!
Huge thank you to the Dirt Daze crew for hosting such an incredible, well-run event, and to all the supportive significant others, family, friends, and fellow riders cheering us on with thumbs up, high fives, and unwavering support. The ADV community as a whole continues to prove it’s the most welcoming, supportive, and downright amazing group of people you could ever hope to ride with.
To every woman who showed up, pushed her limits, lifted someone else up, or simply came to say hi—you are the heart of this community. You inspire us, you motivate us, and you make every ride better just by being there.
Keep riding, keep growing, and keep showing up for each other. The trails are better with you on them. 🏍️💨❤️

Our training spots at Dirt Daze are still open! Online registration may be closed, but you can still grab available training slots most mornings. Whether you want to learn how to handle a big bike without turning every ride into an unexpected full-body workout, build confidence, ride safer, or simply become more adventurous—there’s a spot for you.
And the best part? The friendships. I still ride with women I met at my very first training as a student. Come learn a thing or two, laugh a lot, and meet the kind of riding friends who cheer you on… and may help pick up your bike when gravity gets a little too enthusiastic. 😉

Put Hells Canyon on Your ADV Bucket List!

Congratulations to the team on the launch of the new Hells Canyon BDR-X in Idaho and Oregon!

SheADV board member Inna and filmmaker Annemarie Hennes had the chance to ride the route as part of the BDR filming expedition, and their verdict: this one belongs on your bucket list.

There’s also something especially exciting about seeing a female filmmaker not only behind the camera, but out on the route as part of the expedition. Annemarie brings such a fresh, modern energy to this film—from the music choices and beautifully cinematic drone work to the way she captures the personalities and excitement of the ride itself. It feels less like simply watching a route documentary and more like being invited along for the adventure. The result makes you want to experience Hells Canyon for yourself—whether you’re already an ADV rider or simply love a great adventure.

Expect incredible scenery, a few fun technical sections, and plenty of approachable riding for intermediate ADV riders. And those views!
