Ocean fishing this month has been nothing short of excellent. We have seen Grey Whales, Orca's, and lots of different birds around Haystack rock. Our dory boat can comfortably take up to 6 anglers each trip and we welcome all levels of fishing experience. We provide all the tackle and equipment on our trips. After we are back on land we clean, process and vacuum seal your catch at house here in Pacific City. For the remainder of May and going into June we have the following dates available. Open boat this Sunday 4/19 and the ocean is forecasted to be beautiful. We welcome any and all skill levels. We provide all the tackle and equipment needed. After we get back on land all of your catch is cleaned, vacuum sealed, and labeled. The Dungeness Crab we catch is cleaned, cooked, and sent home bagged. 2026 season is here and the Ocean is forecasted to be enjoyable on the Dory. This is a great fishery to stock up on delicious white flaky rockfish and Lingcod meat. Each angler is allowed (4) Rockfish and (3) Lingcod daily this year. All of your crab is cooked, cleaned, and bagged. All of the fish is cleaned, vacuum sealed, and labeled before going home with you. Open dates for the good ocean are 4/4, 4/6, 4/9-4/12. Call or text to book your fishing excursion with us. Bob hooked and landed this Smasher Chinook in the last hole on the last day of my season back bouncing. We learned all morning how important it is to let the fish eat the bait and take it. I always say I have lost close to zero chinook for waiting too long on the bite and hundreds of them from clients swinging the rod too soon. You cant set the hook if there is nothing to set it into. A lot of bites while back bouncing start as a peck or a number of pecks. This is the time to freeze stare at your rod tip and if anything lower your tip with focus. The fish has showed itself without knowing our presence. If the peck or number of pecks goes away or stops we can always reel in change our baits and have a good chance at figuring out what it wants. If we swing the rod too soon its over...

We have been catching more and more chinook salmon as our Dory boat season comes to an end. These amazing creatures will be headed up our rivers soon. Some of the Coho that are around are massive for this time of year, this particular salmon means more than just a plus one to our box for the morning. I played hockey at a highly competitive level 20 years ago with and haven't seen him since. Him and his wife booked a trip and he needed one more Salmon to fill his tag We had a particular rod that was going off more than others, and it wasn't his so I tied up a rig on the fly and made sure it went on his Rod for the last five minutes of our morning troll. It didn't take long and his rod gets bit with this smasher size coho on the line ....Happy 40th birthday Gonzo and thank you for supporting Oarangling

The 2025 season has been fun and full of making many great fish stories thus far. Our Gen II Breaker dory we purchased last fall has been providing a comfortable experience and is turning out to be a very fishy vessel. Mother nature has been a tough mistress as of late with the relentless NW wind and big swell. The forecast suggests it is going to let up and we are keeping our fingers crossed. July is booked out but beginning August 9th we have availability. We provide all the tackle and you are sure to go home with lots of fish and crab. No family members of ours that were in the military died during the conflicts they participated in. For that I am thankful and recognize our familie’s good fortune. For many of my fellow Americans I cannot presume to understand your stories on this Memorial Day, but the Dodson is thankful for your stories, your pain, and your pride. God Bless your family
