Dan McKeage, Jr. and the Naughty 40 Racing team returned to Official Page of Oxford Plains Speedway for another round in the Super Late Models on Saturday, hopeful to build upon their solid start to the 2026 race season.

The car felt great in practice and Dan was happy with the speed and handling, as he timed second in the first session on old tires.

The good luck kept coming as crew member David drew pole for Dan in the first heat. Unfortunately, Dan didn't get a great jump in the opening laps of the heat and fell back to second, which is where he would finish.

Dan started second in the feature but fell back to third early. He maintained position for the vast majority of the race but began to lose momentum as the laps wound down, descending back to fourth.

Dan fought hard on the top line to maintain position amongst seasoned competitors and gave it his all on a late-race restart, coming out sixth when all was said and done.

"The car is getting better every week, and we are competing with the guys up front. I'm proud of our team and their efforts and we'll keep searching for more speed and get back to it on Saturday", he shared.

Dan was intending to return to Wiscasset Speedway this weekend for a bout in the Super Streets, but with the positive momentum the team is building at Oxford Plains Speedway, they have decided to stay put for now.

The green flag flies at 6:00 pm tomorrow!

Following 2 top 10 finishes to start the season, Dan McKeage, Jr. and the Naughty 40 Racing team returned to Official Page of Oxford Plains Speedway last weekend for another round in the Super Late Models.

The #40 machine fared well in practice on old tires but was still a tick off from where the team wanted it to be, so they made a slight adjustment prior to the qualifying heat.

Dan got off to a little bit of a sluggish start in the qualifier, but the car came to life as the laps wound down, and he was able to secure a 3rd place finish.

The car still felt a bit free off, so the crew tightened up the car for the 50-lap feature. That's when they also noticed that the left rear tire wasn't holding pressure. With no tires left in the bank, they just had to take a chance and roll with it.

In the opening laps of the race, Dan was able to hug the bottom and get into a good groove. Unfortunately, the handling began to fall off just before midway, and it was a challenge from there to maintain position.

Dan wrestled the car as the laps wound down, holding onto it for another 8th place finish.

Although starting out the season with 3 consecutive top 10 finishes in a highly competitive division is no easy feat, Dan is still striving for a little bit more, as a true competitor does.

"We are still missing something that we are yet to find. We'll be back and will continue to search for the extra speed that we need in order to put ourselves in contention for a win", he shares.

Dan will be back at it tomorrow at Oxford Plains Speedway for another round in the Super Late Models -- the green flag flies at 6:00 pm!

Following a solid top 10 finish on Opening Day, Dan McKeage, Jr. and the Naughty 40 Racing team returned to Official Page of Oxford Plains Speedway on Mother's Day Sunday for another go-around in the Super Late Models.

Dan Jr. was pleased with the cars' handling in practice, timing as high as second. The crew left the car alone for the qualifying heat, where Dan started third.

After an early-race pass by Mike Rowe, Dan got stuck on the bottom groove for the majority of the heat but was able to make some forward progress on the final lap to finish third.

This put Dan sixth for the start of the feature and he initially stayed glued to the bottom groove but got bundled up in traffic for a good portion of the race, unable to make forward progress.

With the laps winding down, Dan decided to try the outer groove but unfortunately lost some momentum as the car became a bit too tight. Ultimately, he was able to hold onto it, finishing 7th.

In his own words, "As a team, we are making a lot of progress in learning the track. The car is very solid but there are still things that we can work on in order to level up".

Dan is looking forward to continuing his journey at Oxford Plains Speedway with the first night race of the season this Saturday, May 16th.

Dan McKeage Jr’s off-season brought excitement and pride as he was crowned the fifth and final winner of GNG's Gift: The Greg Peters Memorial Sponsorship. After receiving this honor, the Naughty 40 team put a lot of thought and consideration into their race plans for 2026.

Ultimately, they decided to switch things up a little bit and try something new, making their Super Late Model season debut on Sunday at Official Page of Oxford Plains Speedway.

The #40 machine was fast out of the gate, timing sixth in first practice. The team made some changes to the car for second practice but the car didn’t adjust well, so they continued to plug away at it in third and final practice, getting the handling to their liking.

Dan took off eighth in the qualifying heat and made forward progress early, climbing up to third. Unfortunately, he got caught up in some mid-race melee and spun, finishing 8th. This put Dan 16th for the start of the feature, so he had his work cut out for him.

Dan rode the bottom in the feature, taking spots as they came to him. He remained patient throughout the course of the feature, climbing inside of the top 10 with less than ten laps to go. He simply ran out of time at the end, settling for an 8th place finish.

In his own words, “I felt like we had a top 5 car but just didn’t have enough luck in the heat or feature to put us there. We will keep working on the car and with more laps, I’ll get more comfortable with the track”.

As always, Dan would like to thank his friends and family that are by his side every week in addition to his sponsors:
