WOW!! Week 1 is in the books!

We are STOKED to have seen everyone out at the race today! We hope you all had a great time and enjoyed the first race of the East DC Racing Series.

Around 345 runners showed up today, and you all definitely showed out! We loved seeing so many runners, families, and teams come out and support the series.

With timing every runner who crosses the finish line, there are inevitably going to be a few mistakes. We did our very best to get everyone entered and timed as accurately as possible, but we know things can happen when you have that many runners coming through!

If you notice a result that needs to be corrected, please let us know ASAP. We are more than happy to take a look and make corrections where needed.

It is RACE DAY!!!

Just a reminder to stay hydrated! The humidity should come down a little by race time, but we want to make sure all runners are as hydrated as possible heading into their race.

We forgot to add yesterday, if you can, please bring exactly $5. We have multiple tables and creating change may become challenging.

With the addition of timing everyone, we also wanted to send out a quick message about an important change.

In the past, we have had parents run alongside some of our very young runners, which has been perfectly fine. We never want a new or young runner to feel uncomfortable while racing. However, we would like to encourage our runners to compete on their own and race against their peers whenever possible.

If a parent needs to run with a Pre-K or Kindergarten runner, we completely understand. We just ask that parents be out of the way of the other runners and do not interfere with their race.

For our 3rd–5th grade runners, there will be no assistance from family or friends during the race. We may have runners from CVMS lead/trail runners available if needed. This will help runners stay on the correct course and also help us identify where our final runners are.

We are almost there! Race day is tomorrow!! Looks like it could be a little warm during the day but by racetime, it should cool off just a little bit. Be sure to stay hydrated however! We're looking forward to having our first race!

Below will be important information as you arrive:

⏰On-Site Registration: 4:30 - 5:30 PM (This will be the same time for those that have pre-registered to pick up bibs)

🏁 First Race Begins: Approx 5:45 PM based on registration pace
(Races will run on a rolling schedule. Week 1 race times will begin later to allow for possible longer registration times. We do not expect it to take longer than last year but to play it safe, we're are moving things back 15 minutes.)

💲 Cost
$5 Bib Fee (One-Time Fee for the Entire Series!)

NEW FOR THIS YEAR!
- All runners will receive an official race bib.
✔ Pay and register once
✔ Receive one bib for the season & keep your bib for all four races
✔ No need to register again after your bib has been assigned. Just bring your bib each week, put it on and be ready to race!
(Replacement bibs will be available for $5 if lost or forgotten at the registration tables each week)

- ALL runners will be timed as well with results posted for each race. We hope to have all races posted online here on facebook by the following morning.

📲 PRE-REGISTRATION - We are closing this at 11PM so we can collect/transfer information to the timing system. You may still register on site tomrrow if needed.

Onsite and Pre-registration: 4:30 - 5:30
On site registration: We will have the picnic tables out similar to last year (1 for each specific race). Parents will walk up and scan a QR code as well as pay the registration fee of $5. Table workers will hand you a bib numbers once you have paid. Please input all information CAREFULLY. Accurate information/bib numbers are essential for proper timing and race results

Pre-registered runners will receive their bib at the purple tent near the finish line. We will have tables there for parents to pay the registration fee and receive their assigned bib. We will have small tables at this tent and bib pickup will be separated in groups by last name. Look for posters on the tables.

🏁 Race Divisions (This is just for week 1 -> Weeks 2-4 will move up 15min)
Race 1 – Girls K–2 (5:45 PM)
Race 2 – Boys K–2 (6:00)
Race 3 – Girls 3–5 (6:15)
Race 4 – Boys 3–5 (6:30)
(All race times after the first race are approximate and may begin early based on race flow. Reminder, these are the times for week 1 only. Week 2 times will be moved up

Race Distance: Approx 1100 meters / Just shy of .75 miles

After each runner finishes and receives their race ribbon, they’ll also receive a FREE Kids Meal card to redeem at our local Texas Roadhouse. We can’t thank them enough for helping us give back to our young runners and making race day even more special for the kids!

Don't forget to get a picture at our photobooth by 270 Pose & Go. They are typically located in the shelther next to the gazebo.

Also, don't forget your favorite post run drink from Kona Ice of Owensboro, Madisonville, & Lincoln Trail. They will be located near the shelter as well.

After reviewing the latest weather updates, we have decided to postpone our Week 1 race to September 8th as the heat wave moves in.

While the heat index at our 5:45 PM race time would be a little lower than it would be during the middle of the day, the temperatures will still be higher than we would like. With the wide range of ages participating in the East DC Racing Series, we feel postponing the race is in the best interest of every runner and will allow us to provide a safer and a more enjoyable racing experience.

The good news is that next week is already looking much better! We look forward to seeing everyone on September 8th. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

👀 Here's a first look at this year's official race bibs!

Every runner will receive a bib at their first race, and it's theirs to keep for the entire series. Just bring it back each week, and you'll be ready to race. No need to register again!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ The countdown to September is on! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We have some exciting things planned for this year's series, and we can't wait to see all of our runners and families back at Yellow Creek Park this fall!

While September may still be a few months away, we wanted to go ahead and share this year's race dates so everyone can mark their calendars and plan ahead.

For those of you traveling or enjoying summer activities over the next couple of months, we wish you safe travels and a fantastic summer break!

We'll be sharing additional details, registration information, and some of the new things we have planned in early August. Until then, enjoy your summer, stay active, and we'll see you soon!

📦🏅 East D.C. Racing Series Update!

Award packages (shirts and medals) have been dropped off at the following schools:
• Deer Park Elementary
• Country Heights Elementary
• Eastview Elementary
• Highland Elementary

Schools will be distributing the packages to students today or keeping them in the front office for pickup. Please check with the school if you believe it is needed.

For all other runners, I’ll be reaching out to your coaches soon to coordinate getting those awards to them as quickly as possible. I appreciate everyone’s patience while I get everything delivered.
