Summit Fitness family and friends, help us celebrate an amazing milestone with one of our very own! ๐ชโจ
Today, we're shining the spotlight on Sue Graves, who is celebrating 7 incredible years since beginning her fitness journey with us! ๐๏ธโโ๏ธ๐
Here's some of Sue's insights on her fitness journey:
When did you start your fitness journey?
My fitness journey started on October 19th, 2019, as a birthday gift to myself.
What keeps you coming back after all these years?
The friends Iโve met here, the trainers, how I feel, and accountability. Accountability is key as the workouts can be super challenging, but the sense of accomplishment is awesome!
What fitness goals have you achieved that you're most proud of?
Dropped 35 pounds, climbed the rope at 56 for the first time in my life, and hit a 235-pound deadlift at the young age of 59.
How has being part of Summit Fitness impacted your life outside of workouts?
I feel more confident, my head is clearer, and friendships extend outside the gym walls.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their fitness journey?
Advice for newbiesโฆ DONโT GIVE UP!!! You can do it! We are here to support you every step of the way. Welcome to the judgment-free zone! Sometimes itโs one step forward and two steps back, but you keep movingโone step at a time.
How do you stay motivated on days when you don't feel like working out?
I struggle with this sometimes, to be honest, but I have people with me who encourage me to keep going even when itโs tough. My days are so much better when I start them with my crewโmy gym fam.
What does being part of this gym community mean to you?
It is truly the best decision I ever made. My only regret? I didnโt start sooner! Together we are better, and we make each other better. The encouragementโthereโs nothing like it.
What's your favorite class or workout at Summit Fitness?
Kickboxingโฆ hands down, without question! Makes me feel invincible.
How have the people here influenced your fitness journey?
By challenging me to step out of my comfort zoneโฆ ice baths. I now own an ice tub! Cold plunges in Cayuga Lake in late March, 3,000 burpee challenge, 5K races, to name a few. All Peter-inspired, by the way!
What's your go-to workout song or playlist?
Rage Against the Machine, Prodigy, a little Drowning Pool, Rob Zombie. So many butt kickers! Love all music.
What's one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I was almost arrested for trespassing with my grandmother at Rich Stadium (now known as Highmark Stadium) when I was in third grade because I HAD to touch the turf when it was being put in. Grandma told the cop I just HAD to touch it. He said, โI understand that, but you know better.โ Honest-to-God true story.
