St. Louis Bridge Center St. Louis Bridge Center (SLBC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to training and educating the bridge-playing community.

SLBC's programs and activities are directly influenced by its members and governed by a Board of Directors. Louis Bridge Center is a 7,000 square foot facility dedicated to the game of bridge. We are conveniently located just west of I-170 near the intersection of Olive and Price. We have games everyday except Sunday and have many training programs for beginners, intermediates and advancing player

Have you heard the buzz? Apparently Glenn Rehagen knocked it out of the park teaching the recent Bridge Essentials one day class. And so by popular demand will reprise his role in the upcoming Bridge Essentials class on November 7th. If you wanted to attend but couldn’t, or know friends who would benefit from this event, please mark your calendars and spread the word. The August 8 Learn Bridge in a Day Class was a huge success. Here is a photo of the graduating class- we hope to see them all at the tables soon! Thank you to Mary Joan Woods, Mary Susan Greenwalt, Jim Meyers, Mary Anne Koines, Susie Zimmerman, Terri Denicke and Sue Stangler who volunteered their time to serve as our table helpers!

You may have noticed changes to our website recently. We have Mike Okner and Elizabeth Vivirito (Cathy and Phil’s daughter) to thank. They have donated their expertise, time and countless hours to update our website, and continue to make tweaks and improvements- all while working full time and raising two young children and playing the occasional game of bridge.

Please join us in thanking Bob McDill for his years of directing and making players feel heard and valued! While he has retired as our Director, he has not retired from playing, helping out where needed and visiting.

Please also join us in welcoming A.J. Gwin as our new Director.
AJ learned the game of bridge as a child in 1984 at the knee of his mother who routinely hosted large social bridge gatherings. Learning the game was the price to pay for pulling up a seat and enjoying the mounds of desserts. He continued playing socially in college. At Miami University he was introduced to duplicate bridge by the dean of the Communication Department. Four years later the dean offered him a scholarship to get his Masters degree, not because of any academic prowess, but rather so they could continue playing bridge another year. It was in that graduate program that he met his wonderful wife of 30 years, Elaine. All because of bridge! AJ also served a short stint helping organize and sell tours on Finesse West Tours, a first-rate sightseeing tour which offered duplicate bridge in wild and exotic places. In 1996, he married and moved to St. Louis. Bridge took a back seat to raising and coaching his four kids, as well as working as a teacher and administrator in a public high school. It was only a small break of 27 years. When he retired from education, he picked up the wonderful game again. He is currently serving on the UNIT 143 Board of Directors. In his spare time, he referees high school soccer. He looks forward to serving the Bridge Center and making sure Bridge is around for another generation!

This Thursday morning, August 6th is the last NAP qualifying game. 50% red 50% black. Additional $1 game fee.

One more Unit games coming in August - $1 additional game fee. Tuesday Aug 11 AM games only.

As a reminder, the Center will be closed August 24 – 30 in support of the Gateway to the West Regional.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

You are the best Ambassadors and supporters of Duplicate Bridge. You love the game, want more people to play it, and understand the value of intellectual exercise and being part of a community. And face it, you are all a bit competitive and would like more people to play against.

You are also best able to convince your friends to take it up again or to learn it in the first place. They will listen to you.

Please help us welcome your friends into our community.

First, tell your friends about the free game this Thursday, July 23 at 6:00 pm pairing duplicate players with party/casual players. It will be a fun way to ease them into the game.

Second, let your friends know they can learn the basics of this game in a 5 hour class on Saturday, August 8 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Third, refer them to our website to consider the available classes and lessons and to find the Chat and novice games perfect for easing them into the game. stlouisbridge.org.

Fourth, let them know they do not need a partner nor do they need to be a member to play. If they come in without a partner and we are unable to pair them up (a rarity), their next game is free.

Finally, if you have an idea for bringing in new players, let us know. We may be opponents at the bridge table, but we are allies in wanting to get more people to play this amazing game.

Please join us this Monday, July 13 at 9:30 AM when we present our check to the Alzheimers' Association for $114,600. Thank you again for all that you did, gave and donated to make this our largest yearly contribution to date for The Longest Day!!! You have brought our 14 year total amount of contributions to over $830,000.

You are also invited to join us for our Party Bridge Meets Duplicate Bridge game at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2026. The purpose of the game is to bring in non-duplicate players for a game, in a relaxed setting, so they consider joining us in playing duplicate bridge. The game will be free to all pairs which include either one or two non-duplicate players.

More July NAP qualifying games on Tuesday evening 7/21, Sunday afternoon 7/26 and Friday morning 7/31.
