Have you ever played Edgewood Country Club in Commerce Township?

One of Oakland County’s many great private courses. Opened in 1928, the original design came from Ernest Way, who served as head professional and greenskeeper at Detroit Golf Club and oversaw the construction of Donald Ross’ North and South courses there. Legendary golf architect Arthur Hills renovated the course in 1989. Way was also the original designer of Pontiac Country Club in Waterford Township, with ECC and PCC serving as two of his only designs.

Have you played Links of Novi?

Located in Novi, this popular public facility features 27 holes designed by Jerry Matthews, giving golfers multiple course combinations and a different experience each time they play.

The layout stretches to nearly 6,500 yards on its longest routing and combines rolling terrain, strategic bunkering, water hazards, and some surprising elevation changes for southeast Michigan. While the name says “Links,” the course plays more like a modern parkland layout with wide fairways and large greens.

Its convenient location, solid conditioning, and variety of hole designs have made it a longtime favorite among Metro Detroit golfers.

After 35 years, Cattails Golf Club in Lyon Township is closing its doors, possibly as soon as this Sunday. The 160-acre course will be replaced by 100+ homes in a new development. If you've ever played it, now's your last chance!

And it won't be the last. Coyote Golf Club in Lyon Township is also slated for housing after the 2027 season.
