HEADS UP!!! Detail for tomorrow's WMNEMBA trail day on the Eastside. 9:00 to 12:00
The Mission: Primary objective, get 15 signposts to their needed locations. The secondary objective is to plant a few if the soil is easily dug. Post hole specific digging tools aren't usable in many of these spots due to rocks and roots so Mattocks and similar digging tools are the most useful option.
There will be 8 posts for the North end and 7 for the South end.
Location: Meeting at Hemlock trail head next to Wal Maht.
We will meet at Hemlock but will be hauling posts at both the North and South end of the Eastside network. Due to the limited parking at Thompson Rd. car pooling may be required for those hauling the northern posts.
There will be numbered flags at each location specifying the posts will be placed.
Here is a breakdown of the posts and their positions...
Thompson Rd. Posts (North End)
#11 Western intersection of Pillar to Link powerline crossing.
#12 Eastern intersection of Pillar to Link powerline crossing.
#13 Intersection of Link and Powerline spur at the Link bridge.
#14 Intersection on powerlines North of the Link bridge.
#15 Intersection of Cardiac and Cardiac Bypass to EKG South end.
#16 Intersection of Cardiac and Cardiac Bypass to EKG North end.
#17 Intersection of EKG and Sidehill.
#18 Intersection of Cardiac and Sidehill.
Hemlock Posts (South End)
#4 Western Intersection of Outer Limits and Cheater.
#5 Intersection of Outer Limits and Rattlesnake.
#6 Eastern Intersection of Jack and Rattlesnake.
#7 Intersection of Swenson/Swamp/Sled Corridor.
#8 Intersection of Muffler and Spring on West side of powerlines.
#9 Intersection of Muffler and Spring on West side of powerlines.
#10 Intersection of Spring and Sidehill.
Each post weighs approximately 12-15lbs.
Most locations are easily accessible and no more than 1/2 a mile one way.
NORTH END PLACEMENT ROUTES:
Posts 11-14 can be hauled by barrow or cart along the powerline corridor.
Post 17 can be hauled up Peaked connector to Sidehill then to the EKG intersect.
Posts 15-18 are all roughly in the same area and best accessed via Cardiac hill.
SOUTH END PLACEMENT ROUTES:
Posts 8-10 are best hauled up Muffler.
Posts 4-7 are best hauled out on the sled corridor towards the quarry and Outer limits from Hemlock. By cart or barrow is likely easiest.
If we have manpower, time and tools the posts that are likely easily placed will be posts 9-14 on the North end.
Posts 8-10 on the South end.
Bring gloves, snacks and hydration. The weather is looking pretty cooperative but cool so dress accordingly.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Otherwise, SEE YOU TOMORROW!!!!
Thanks, Chris

TRAIL DAY!!! A reminder if you didn't get it from the newsletters or the White Mountains NEMBA website. This Sunday May 3rd is our first trail day of the season! The goal for this trail day will be to continue the work of signage.

We need to position posts at key locations that are still lacking direction that will later have signage placed on them.

We need approximately 20 (+/-) 4 foot posts hauled out to their needed locations. Depending on how many fine folks show up we may or may not dig some of them in but the goal right now is just to get them on site which will be a lot easier with more hands.

The areas needing post are mostly on the southern and northern ends of the network we will likely have a group at each end respectively. I need to do some prep work before all the details are worked out announced later this week.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks for your support!
Chris

Not mine and the price is a little unrealistic but size small in the YDX is pretty hard to find. To the point I doubted their existence Awesome bikes and a little outside the run of the mill.

PSA: I'm getting caught up in stuff so a little reminder it's time to swap wheels and/or redo your sealant for the new season if you haven't already.

It's time!

And we are still in drought so the trails are drying fast. The Eastside is riding really well and all but maybe one downed tree have been removed.

I swapped to my summer wheels shortly after this pic was taken. You should too.

Occasionally back in the day I used to get to ride with a rider named Bobby Mcmullen. (Ride Blind Racing)

He was a sponsored rider for Santa Cruz/WTB and he was blind. It was always impressive to see him ride tech sections that would make sighted people pause.

The way you guided him was pretty much identical to this. Takes some serious guts and determination and willingness to take a hit.

Tons of respect for these athletes.

Sadly Bobby passed away in 2022. He was a legend.

Had some fun on the ice today.

Got another new phone. Communications may be spotty so if you don't hear from me, try again.

Thanks!
