I take pride in being able to ID fish from above. This is 100% a young lake sturgeon at Gavin's point dam. I keep seeing a few over the last years.

Check this out!!! A rare 70-pound lake sturgeon was netted by biologists from the Missouri River at Gavins Point Dam.
Biologists with the Missouri Department of Conservation had captured and tagged the fish at the Missouri River's confluence with the Osage River in 2017. At that time, the sturgeon measured 47 inches in length and weighed 29 pounds.
From where it was captured in the Osage River, to where it was netted at Gavins Point Dam, the fish swam 681 miles upstream! Starting to see lake sturgeon now. Really rare but ive had a few on and know my fans and friends have caught them. Shovelnose are very plenty but a lake is really rare
