The blue kart pictured took him to victory lane all 10 times this year - the same 2016 Phantom Racing Chassis Recon that we started with 3 years ago in the rookie division. The kart is older than the driver, but it still works. We also owe much of our speed to TRR race engines, Tom provided us with consistent speed all year.

We enjoyed our adventures in racing across 5 different states - (South Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa) as a family and we are forever grateful for the supporters and sponsors that helped us along the way:

Wild night at King of the Corn!

Sawyer raced 4 classes which totaled up to be almost 150 laps. 🤯

RBOX trophy - 12 karts
Heat: 5th➡️3rd
Feature: 5th➡️3rd - bumped to 2nd after a DQ

Sawyer ran a great race. No notes!

RBOX KOC - 11 karts
Heat: 3rd➡️4th
On the initial start, Sawyer had to get on the brakes for another kart and a 3rd kart came from behind him and he took a really hard hit. Ran the entire 12 laps with a bent axle and a flat tire somehow.
Feature: 7th➡️4th

RBOX last harvest- 7 karts
Qualifying: Technically 5th because the kart that got DQed timed in 1st. Unfortunately even though they try spread the karts out for qualifying laps, Sawyer did not get a clean lap in and got caught behind a slower kart. Just part of racing.

Feature:5th➡️5th
Ran most of the race in 3rd but once again a lap kart got us on the last lap. 2 karts were right behind him and got by.

BP Trophy - 7 karts
Heat: 6th➡️5th
Feature: 6th➡️6th

Since there weren't a ton of BPs we decided to throw him in for another race to get some laps. We have had a lot of people ask if we're moving him up next year, and honestly we don't really know the answer yet - but we do feel like it's a pretty big jump and he only benefits from getting laps. We'll likely continue to get him laps when we can, but 4 features was a lot for our little driver!

Overall a really fun night with lots of really competitive karts. The top 6 or so karts were mixing it up in all of the features and running very similar lap times - stressful for the parents but our drivers get so much good experience at races like that!

Well, rain spoiled a little bit of our fun at Fairbury but we still had a great time.

Prelude night Sawyer rolled quicktime and led a lot of the feature, had a good race going but just over drove the kart and spun with a couple laps to go. Considering we rolled out on the track at 1:30am for the feature after a rain delay, it's a miracle our driver was even awake.

We got a quick 4 hours of sleep in and it absolutely downpoured when we got to the track on day #2. Maxxis and Fairbury made every attempt to get these races in but mother nature was just against us.

The rain couldn't cancel the awards ceremony though! Sawyer picked up his 2 championship trophies for the Midwest Maxxis Speedway Series and we're excited to head home and add them to the shelf.

𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 & 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠
*No parking inside the gates Thursday night. If you arrive Thursday, please park in the grass lot at 600 S. Second Street (Gate 2).
*We will do our best to open the gates as early as possible on Friday.
*Friday parking entrance: Use the gate at 600 S. Third Street.
*No motorhomes are allowed to park in the pit area.
*Tow vehicles must fit within your reserved space. A designated parking area will be available for vehicles that do not fit.

𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫'𝐬 & 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬
*Super Heavy drivers: You will weigh in without gear each day before practice. We will use that weight for the entire day.
*Junior drivers: Please bring an original birth certificate in case of a protest. We will not accept copies or photos.
*Junior flat kart drivers may enter ONE age division only.
*Every kart must have a rear number plate: black with white numbers or white with black numbers.
*Armbands must be worn at all times—NO EXCEPTIONS.

𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥, 𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 & 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬
*The track will sell racing fuel 𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐘.
*Generator fuel will 𝐧𝐨𝐭 be available for purchase at the track. Please plan accordingly.
*No parts vendor will be on-site.
*A very limited supply of tires will be available for late entries from drivers who did not preregister.

𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭
*Qualifying will be in groups. If you miss your assigned group, you will not receive a qualifying time.
*Consolation races will take place after qualifying.
*Friday: Consolation races will be held for Friday night classes.
*Saturday: Consolation races will be held for Maxx Daddy, JR1 Maxx Daddy, JR2 Maxx Daddy, Champ, and Big Chief. Prelude classes will have no consolation races.
*The number of karts starting each race will be determined on race day.

𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬
*Winners in Pro JR1, Pro JR2, or Pro Stock Heavy from any of the four previous 2026 Midwest events will receive a guaranteed starting spot in their respective Maxx Daddy class.
*Pro Super Heavy winners from any 2026 Midwest Maxxis events will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the Big Chief.

Unloaded the modified and loaded up the kart for NKK tonight.

We set out with intentions of just running the Rbox class today, and doing some testing after with our second kart. Unfortunately the kart count was pretty low so we made a last minute decision to put the BP motor on the minecon and run both classes.

Sawyer's buddy Leo won both heat races in Rbox but Sawyer got the better start in the feature and held onto the win. They had a great race, both running very close lap times.

Sawyer also went on to win both BP heats and the feature!

Thank you to grandpa Mike for being crew chief on the Rbox while Zack tried to make adjustments on the BP to get our driver more comfortable. Thank you to grandma Marji and grandpa Bugs for coming out to support!

Some of you will read this and probably call us idiots, but we decided to call it a week and bring the car home.

Last night we did not feel good about how the car handled in the feature at all. We aren't blind to the fact that luck in the heat race got us there in the first place - but that's kind of what Boone is all about. We took track conditions, how the car has handled this week and just the overall luck we've had into consideration and as Zack said "we haven't had to beat out a single body panel this week" and that's really saying something. 😆

We would of had a pretty good starting spot in a last chance heat today as its showing Zack is currently 23rd in points out of 220 cars, but if you've ever watched the last chance races - it's typically just an all out brawl.

Thank you to Jason Vansickel for the carb tune up and the crew at Jake Pike Racing for offering up help this week on hot pit duties. We really appreciate you guys. Thank you Jake Springer for saving our ass a couple of times and thank you all of our racing family for the support and encouragement this week - particularly Grandpa Bugs who we don't thank often enough.

We won a heat race, made 2 qualifying features and exceeded our expectations on the week. The car isn't wrecked. We had fun. ✌️out Boone, see ya next time!

"I almost pulled off." - Zack

Sometimes you stick it out and get lucky. We'll take all the luck we can get.

Started 5th in his heat, fell back to 6th and was struggling to find a line while the leaders drove away. He said he almost pulled off and then the 2nd and 3rd place cars got together, 4th and 5th place both had to get on the brakes and suddenly we were back in the game. After a few laps he made passes on the 2nd and 3rd place cars which put him in another qualifier.

Regardless of what happens in this feature we exceeded our expectations of this week. Just making it into a qualifying feature here is pretty tough and to make it in twice with only 9 nights in the modified this year feels pretty great.

Snagged one of those Casey's hats and a #5 spoon for the qualifying feature tonight.

Zack started 3rd in his heat, took the lead on the start and lead every lap.
