🏅🔥 STATE TRACK & FIELD! 🔥🏅

What an incredible weekend for Newport Track & Field at the State Championships!

The Newport boys team placed 11th overall, the highest team finish in recent memory—a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and determination of these athletes!

⭐ State Highlights ⭐

🥈 Lucas Croswhite had an outstanding meet, finishing as State Runner-Up in the 110M Hurdles with a personal record time of 14.38! Lucas also earned another 2nd-place State finish in Pole Vault, clearing 13' 6".

Jonathan Hill placed 11th in the 400M with a time of 53.02.

Dax Hansen earned a 7th-place finish in Triple Jump with a leap of 40'1".

Rayben Jurgens placed 9th in Discus with a throw of 138'2".

Nathan Donati finished 14th in Javelin with a throw of 130'.

⚡ The Boys 4x100 Relay Team (Dax Hansen, Lucas Croswhite, Kale Markwardt, and Aidan Kramer) ran a season-best 43.95 PR in the finals to place 7th in State!

⚡ The Boys 4x400 Relay Team (Dax Hansen, Jonathan Hill, Tanner Rheinford, and Lucas Croswhite) also earned a 7th-place State finish, running 3:35.97 in the finals.

Olivia Collins placed 9th in the 3200M with a time of 12:25.31.

Joelle Brandtner had an outstanding weekend, placing 11th in Long Jump and earning a 6th-place State medal in Triple Jump with a jump of 34'2".

⚡ The Girls 4x100 Relay Team (Joelle Brandtner, Allysah Bays, Hailey Davison, and Savannah Garris) placed 11th overall with a time of 52.97.

We are incredibly proud of every athlete who represented Newport on the state's biggest stage. Their commitment, perseverance, and teamwork have made our community proud. Congratulations on an amazing season and a historic state performance! 💙💛

🏅 STATE BOUND! 🏅

What an incredible weekend for our Track & Field athletes! Our team showed determination, grit, and heart — and the results speak for themselves. We are proud to announce that 21 athletes have qualified for STATE in 14 events, the largest group in recent history! 🎉

🔥 Boys State Qualifiers:
• Jonathan Hill – 2nd in the 400M (51.65), plus a PR of 51.13 in prelims
• Lucas Croswhite – State qualifier in the 110M Hurdles (2nd overall), Pole Vault Champion (13’6”), and NE2B All League Athlete of the Year
• Rayben Jurgens – Shot Put Champion with a PR of 45’1”, Discus State Qualifier, and NE2B All League Thrower of the Year
• Damien Hamberg – State qualifier in Discus with a PR throw of 132’11”
• Nathan Donati – State qualifier in Javelin with a PR of 136’8”
• Dax Hansen – State qualifier in Triple Jump with a PR of 40’10.5”
• Boys 4x100 Relay (Dax Hansen, Lucas Croswhite, Jonathan Hill, Aidan Kramer) – Qualified for State with a PR time of 44.11
• Boys 4x400 Relay (Dax Hansen, Jonathan Hill, Tanner Rheinford, Lucas Croswhite) – Qualified for state with a time of 3:33.84

Relay alternates heading to state: Leif Axel, Evan Hansen, Kale Markwardt, and Malik Kennett

🔥 Girls State Qualifiers:
• Olivia Collins – State qualifier in the 3200M
• Joelle Brandtner – State qualifier in Long Jump and Triple Jump
• Girls 4x100 Relay (Joelle Brandtner, Alyssa Bays, Hailey Davison, Savannah Garris) – Qualified with a PR time of 52.77

Relay alternates heading to state: Aimee Busby, Marri Hinchliff, Aurelia Johnson, and Maelee Jurgens

👏 Notable performances also came from Malik Kennett, Maelee Jurgens, and Aimee Busby, all earning personal records and strong finishes!

We head to Yakima on Wednesday! There will be a state sendoff at 2:35 PM starting at the high school and traveling down Grizzly Way toward the highway. Come out and show your support for these amazing athletes as they head to STATE!

Boys: Lucas Croswhite 1st in Pole Vault 14’, 1st in 110 Hurdles 15.06, 2nd in 100 M 11.25 (PR); 4x100 Relay 3rd 44.52 (PR) (Lucas Croswhite, Kale Markwardt, Dax Hansen, Aidan Kramer)

Girls: Olivia Collins 2nd 3200 M 12.15.58 (SR); Joelle Brandtner 3rd Triple Jump 33’ 3.5”

There were also a ton of PR's and top eight finishers. Go Griz!

A school record was broken at our first home meet of the season!

Lucas Croswhite Pole Vaults a 14' 7.75" vault to beat the previous record set in 2009 by Josh Frye.

Lucas Croswhite has been named a Nike Indoor Nationals All American in the Pentathelon 60 meter hurdles! This makes Lucas one of the few All Americans from Newport High School. Go Griz
