Truly a full circle moment❤️ Please welcome InSpira Alumna c/o 2019 Ms. Bria Vainqueur to the InSpira Team! 😃🥹
Ms. Bria will be teaching InSpira EXP Ballet & Jazz.
Ms. Bria, began her dance journey at the age of three with InSpira Performing Arts. In addition to being an InSpira “lifer,” Bria also trained with Princeton Youth Ballet, as well as Ballet Hispánico, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Rockettes Dance Training, Alvin Ailey, and NJPAC in the summer.
She just finished her second season in the Pa’lante Scholarship Program at Ballet Hispánico and she is finishing her studies online with Kean University. All while continuing to follow her professional ballet dreams in New York City. Please give Ms. Bria a Big InSpira welcome!

Thank you to one of mentors Jill Johnson for introducing Honeycomb to me at the Women of Color Connecting Conference earlier this year. Jill has been a blessing in my life since 2009…from winning a business plan competition 2010, helping me with my former News Brunswick location in 2022 and now with this new initiative of InSpira. After having a business for more than two decades I truly see the needs of our children. InSpira is the catalyst with dance as the main vehicle to draw them in. But now we are going to expand and help our children with even more essential needs to become successful adults. If you are so inclined to join the inspirational journey of the DREAM Program! So proud of these little young ladies! Last night, we had our annual moving up ceremony from “Little InSpirations”! Each one of them has grown immensely and Ms. Kris is beaming with pride! She told them and their parents last night about their growth in confidence, how they help others, how they have grown as leaders, betters listeners (80% 😂) and of course their growth as a dancer! Today, we celebrate the birthday of Ms. Katherine Dunham, a groundbreaking choreographer in modern dance, the founder of the first Black-led dance company in the United States, and a trailblazing dance anthropologist.
Dunham was a fervent civil rights activist who used her influence to spotlight the ongoing racial discrimination in America. She successfully sued several hotels that denied her lodging due to her race, winning her cases and sparking supportive protests. In 1967, she was charged with disorderly conduct for confronting police after one of her dancers was wrongfully arrested. Additionally, Dunham consistently called out theaters for segregating audiences and barring Black patrons.
On this special day, we honor Katherine Dunham’s indomitable spirit and her relentless pursuit of justice and equality for Black Americans through her art and activism. We celebrate a true American pioneer and artist. Happy Birthday, Ms. Dunham.

Hey InSpira Fam, the Brunch Pitch Competition was AMAZING. While I didn’t win the competition, I won in so many other ways! 1. I was able to network with so many people to tell them about the InSpira story. I handed out so many cards and had a potential investor request more info 2) As I always tell my personal children and InSpira students always be ready. They asked some of my students to perform today and I’m always ready and the kids were able to perform unplanned. I had so many people come up to me and tell me they loved my pitch and seeing my students said so much about InSpira. Being in Times Square pitching was something else. Thank you to everyone that came out to support me - my daughters Kiara and Kiana, my InSpira Dancers and their families and my surprise visit from my Sorority Sister Tjuana Minor in town from Atlanta.

Introducing InSpira Faculty Ms. Annabelle Bowman .bwmn. Ms. Annabelle graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts and Rutgers Honors College with a BFA in dance. She plans to continue teaching dance, and to continue choreographing and performing post grad. Additionally, she has earned her Comprehensive Polestar Pilates Certification, which she will use as a Pilates instructor in both private and group settings. Congratulations Ms. Annabelle! Today at the Menlo Park Veterans Home, Ms. Kris @kdsmith9 donated 12 of her coloring books that feature the likeness of InSpira students over the years! The Veterans home was so grateful! This is special for Ms. Kris because her Father Papa Mitch currently resides there and her late mother resided there. Coloring helps the seniors with their motors schools and can stimulate creativity. Community is one of InSpira’s CORE values and it’s so important to make a positive difference in the lives that we touch.

Received a perishable gift at my old location in New Brunswick and my old neighbors received the delivery and thankfully called me. I thought everyone knew that we have been gone since August 17, 2022. Thankful for the gift. Today for the first time I went to the front door of the place I entered for so many years and I felt fine. It was a trip seeing the floors and everything in tact just how we left it. The building is still empty! I know that God has a plan! Footsteps Toward Purpose!
