Have you ever wondered why we do Sun Salutation A so often in yoga?
It is more than just a familiar sequence of poses. Sun Salutation A connects breath and movement, warms the body, builds strength, encourages mobility, and gives the mind a place to focus.
But perhaps one of its greatest gifts is the opportunity to arrive.
With each inhale and exhale, we have a chance to let go of whatever came before stepping onto the mat and become a little more present with where we are now.
The next time your teacher says, "Let's begin with a Sun Salutation," see if you can approach it with fresh eyes.
Notice your breath.
Notice your body.
Notice your mind.
Sometimes the most familiar parts of our practice have the most to teach us.
