POSH Yoga

POSH Yoga Skilled in behavior modification and trauma sensitivity. What is POSH? Essentially P.O.S.H is an acronym for The Principles of Strength and Healing.

P.O.S.H provides curriculum based yoga programs specifically designed to build strength, promote emotional intelligence and resilience, and unite mind, body and breath in a safe manner. The class is structured within a Hatha yoga sequence that is designed to build muscle strength, tone, and overall flexibility when practiced a minimum of three times a week. The healing is initiated through the al

ignment of mental focus with the movement and sensations of the body and breath. The musical playlists are also carefully created with an emphasis on the facilitation of the healing process. POSH is an experience. On a broader scale POSH is a lifestyle. We live our lives based on principles and values, compassion for self and others, principles of healthy living, care of the body, and mind. Without principles we lack integrity. POSH is you, POSH is me, POSH is everything that WE aspire to be.

Svadhyaya in Action: A Reflection of Growth ✨

When we think of a yoga practice, we often picture physical poses on a mat. But some of the deepest, most profound yoga happens entirely off the mat—in the quiet moments of the mind and heart.

Recently, one of our young yoga students navigating the juvenile detention system reached out to me with an apology letter for his behavior. In the tradition of classical yoga, this courageous act is the perfect, living definition of Svadhyaya (self-study and self-reflection).

Svadhyaya (pronounced svah-dee-yah-yah) is the fourth Niyama (personal observance) in the Yoga Sutras. It translates to the intentional study of the self, our habits, and our reactions.
For this young man, sitting down to reflect on his actions, recognize his impact on the space, and vulnerably offer an apology requires immense self-awareness. It means he was able to step back, witness his behavior without judgment, and choose a path of accountability.

This is exactly why we bring trauma-conscious yoga into these spaces: it gives our youth the safety and the tools to pause, look inward, and realize they are not defined by their survival mechanisms or their worst moments. His letter is a beautiful reminder that the practices are working—clearing away the armor, inviting self-reflection, and unlocking the deep, inner wisdom that has been there all along.

Please keep this young student, and all the youth we serve, in your thoughts and intentions this week. Some of them are doing the heavy, sacred work of healing from the inside out.❤️
