What a Weekend!

First, I want to thank all the teams that came out and competed in last weekend's tournament. We were a little sad that everyone wasn't together at one park, but that's what happens when you keep growing. In the end, splitting between two parks was the best decision for the teams because of the heat and the weather.

Even with two locations, we still had to call three games because of storms moving in fast. Could we have finished them? Maybe. But we talked with the coaches and let them help make the call, and it turned out to be the right decision.

One of the best parts of the weekend was watching how a bracket played out on Sunday. We had two undefeated teams face off first thing in the morning. When one of them lost, you could see the disappointment because they thought their chance to win the bracket was gone.

I made sure every team in that bracket understood there was still plenty of softball left to play. There was a team sitting at 1 and 1 going into Sunday. They won their first game and if they beat the 3 and 0 team, we would end up with a three way tie.

Sure enough, that's exactly what happened!

With no clear head to head winner, it came down to runs allowed. And believe it or not, the team that won the bracket was the same team that lost that first Sunday game between the two undefeated teams.

That is why you never quit and never think you're out of it.

A huge shout out goes to Old Guns. Going into their fourth game, they knew they had no chance to win the bracket because of the tiebreakers. A lot of teams might have packed it in at that point. Not Old Guns. They still came out, competed hard, and never gave the game away.

That is what this game is all about.

A quick note about the ATD website from the person behind the screen…

For those who may not know me, I’m Madison Rob’s daughter, one of the directors of Above the Dirt Sports, and the person actively working on our website every day.

Our goal is to make ATD different and make everything easier and more accessible for our players, coaches, umpires and families.

We’re building much more than a place to find tournament dates. We’re working toward having schedules, scores, standings and updates all in one place, along with player portals, stats, team communication, coach tools for rosters and lineups, free-agent pickups, umpire availability and more.

A lot of what you’re seeing is brand new, and with something this in-depth, there are going to be learning curves and hiccups along the way. Information may occasionally need to be corrected or something may not work exactly as intended the first time.

Honestly, I love seeing everyone actually using the website. That’s exactly what we want, and your feedback helps me find things, fix them and continue making it better.

All I ask is that when something is incorrect or you find an issue, please bring it to us respectfully. We’re never intentionally trying to provide misinformation or make things confusing. We’re building, testing, learning and improving as we go.

We’re trying to create something that makes the entire tournament experience better for everyone involved, and it’s only going to continue growing from here.

So keep using it, keep giving us feedback, and give us a little grace while we continue building something pretty cool for this community.

🚨 Another Update! 🚨

Our new website is up and running!

When you visit the site, click on Tournaments and choose the tournament you want to check out. Then click View Tournament. That's where you'll find the teams that are coming and the tournament schedule.

As we move into the computer age, we're making it easier to register players and teams. Say goodbye to piles of paperwork!

We're also working on digital player cards, so everything you need will be right on your phone. Easy to access, easy to use, and one more step toward making things better for everyone.

Please remember to start drinking plenty of fluids tomorrow. It's going to be hot, even for the short amount of time we'll be out on the field this weekend. Stay hydrated and be ready to play! ☀️💧⚾

Website Update!

Our new website is now live and ready to use!

Over the next few weeks, every player will be able to create a login and access their account. Right now, there is no need to log in while we finish entering all current player information into the system.

We have asked five coaches and their teams to help test the site. We want feedback from players to make sure the signup process is easy and works smoothly.

The new player and coach portals will include features that we believe everyone will enjoy and find useful.

Site Highlights

✅ Players can let coaches know if they are available to play each weekend and which days they can attend.

✅ Coaches can manage roster changes with approval.

✅ Coaches can communicate with players through team message boards.

✅ Coaches can connect with and pick up available free agents.

✅ More features and tools will be added as we continue to grow the platform.

We are excited about this next step and look forward to giving every player access soon. Stay tuned for more updates! 🚀🏈

As for the schedule for this weekend I will post it here, Every coach has a the schedule as well. We are in two parks so please make sure you are in the correct park for your games.

🚨 Only 2 Days Left to Get Your Team Signed Up! 🚨

Monday is the deadline, so do not wait!

Again, we are using two locations this tournament so teams are not out in the heat all day. We will definitely miss having everyone together at one park, and unfortunately our vendors cannot be in two places at the same time. As we continue to grow, it gives us a better chance to lower entry fees and bring more vendors out to support our events at all parks.

We are now only two months away from our End of Year Championship Event in October.

Important for this year:
If your team has not played in at least two tournaments with us, you will not be eligible for the End of Year Event.

Looking ahead to next year:
Teams will be required to play in 5 of the 9 tournaments during the season to qualify for the End of Year Event.

🏆 End of Year Championship Prizes 🏆

The overall champions will have the opportunity to design their own custom championship ring, along with receiving their bracket winner ring.

Since this is our first year building the organization and all teams are currently in the C divisions, we will crown two overall champions:

✅ Lower C Champion
✅ Upper C Champion

If all 40 teams attend the championship event, there will be 8 bracket winners. The four lower bracket winners will compete in two additional games to determine the Lower C Overall Champion. The same format will be used to determine the Upper C Overall Champion.

We are also working on adding even more prizes for our overall winners.
