Here are the results from the last tournament standings.

Some teams, as you will see, moved down in the standings. A few of those teams were asked by us to move up before and are now placed where they should be. Other teams played their first tournament with us and based on their performance were moved to a more fair spot.

As we continue to grow, brackets will be formed based on these standings. Moving forward, we will not be asking coaches to play out of their divisions A B C. We have done this over the last few months while we were growing, and we cannot thank those coaches enough who stepped up and played higher teams.

Tim and I both agree on this. If we do not have enough upper level teams to form a bracket, then we will not have that division play in the tournament. This goes for the 60 and 70 teams as well.
We will not have 60 or 70 teams play in the 50 division just to fill spots. Any 60 or 70 team that chooses to play in the 50 division because there are not enough teams for a bracket will be treated as a 50 team for that tournament.
There will be no extra help or additional fielder.

We are doing our best to keep everything fair and competitive for everyone 💪

Another sunny Florida day and we are loving it 😎

Man the days are flying by the older we get. Our next tournament is coming up quick. Please do not wait till the last minute to let Tim know you are coming.

We will be in two parks this upcoming tournament. Yeah that is how much we have grown in just five months. We would rather let teams know early where you are playing instead of telling you last minute.

We already have enough teams to fill one park and that is without Tim even calling teams yet. They are calling him. That right there says a lot.

The support from this community means everything to us. Last month we had 25 teams. This month we are on track for 30 or more.
We truly cannot do this without all of you.

Let’s keep it going 💪

Rules Clarification

Old Guns has brought up a point about how our rules are written, and we want to clear that up

The way the rule is written was meant for normal bracket play, which for most of us over the years has been a five team bracket.
However, we understand it can be read a different way

In a five team bracket, there is no situation where three teams can all finish 3 and 1 while one of those teams has beaten both of the others. Because of that, the rule included another way to determine a winner, since head to head would not apply in that specific setup

The issue is the way the rule was written only clearly covered five, four, and three team brackets

Old Guns is pointing out that even though Dirty Birds beat both Old Guns and Mavericks head to head,
They believe head to head should be ignored
Because line three of the rules states that three, four, or five way ties go to runs allowed.

Our intent with that rule was to address a way to determing a winner bracket situations, not to override clear head to head results when they exist

We will be reviewing and updating the wording so there is no confusion going forward

As of right now we are not awarded a clear winner in that bracket unitl we recieve the feed back from all the board members.

In a five team bracket, it is impossible for three teams to finish 3 and 1.
You may have two teams at 3 and 1, and in that case we go to head to head first, then runs allowed if needed.

The same applies in a six team bracket, although more teams can finish 3 and 1
This weekend we had three teams finish 3 and 1.

Dirty Birds, Mavericks, and Old Guns

Dirty Birds beat both teams head to head, giving them the clear tiebreaker and the bracket win

If there was no clear head to head winner, we would have gone to runs allowed

We also had one bracket unable to finish due to weather.

Lightning, wind, and heavy rain moved in quickly around 2:30

Those final games did not affect the outcome. X Men had already secured the bracket win

Above the Dirt Sports will issue a one game refund to the four affected teams.

Games that were stopped midway will be counted as official

We appreciate all the coaches for their understanding. Safety will always come first and we did our best to play as long as we could

Great weekend for Above the Dirt Sports

We had a strong turnout for a holiday weekend and we appreciate everyone who came out.
I hope all players, coaches, and families had a positive experience

First, I want to recognize the ground crew. They worked extremely hard to get the fields ready. After the amount of rain we received Saturday night, Tim and I truly believed we might not be able to play or would face significant delays on Sunday.
Their effort made it possible for the games to go on, and we are very grateful

Above the Dirt is still growing. With that comes challenges and mistakes.
We take that seriously and we are committed to improving each week

On Sunday, I made an incorrect call due to a misunderstanding of the situation. Fortunately, it did not impact any runs.
I corrected the issue moving forward and addressed it directly with the coaches

There was also an incident between a player and his coach. This matter will be formally reviewed by the rules and discipline board and handled accordingly

We appreciate the continued support, patience, and commitment from everyone involved.

Our goal is to build something that is fair, competitive, and respected, and we will continue working toward that every week

Hello to all Teams, Family and Friends,

We want to thank you all for coming out this weekend ,The weather played some games with us but we managed get things going on saturday and it was a nice day, Sunday started out with a challenge but thx to the Ground crew we got it started on time on 3 fields and a 15 min delay on the fourth , The day ended short with a lightning storm, and rain which canceled the last 2 games in the tournament , we held off as long as possible but players safety is first so myself and Rob made a quick decision to call it. As we know everyone travels an hours plus to participate with Above the Dirt Sports and it is greatly appreciated, Yes playing the games and having a great time is an experience but some times Mother Nature wants to participate and its a challenge for all of us but YOUR SAFETY is our main concern and we will always keep that as #1 with Above the Dirt.
We are building up a great group of Teams, Families , Spectators , and we are thankful for your participation because you are the reason we are here and it will never be forgotten . Lets get better and bigger every month . More and More fun.
Also if anyone lost or left behind anything at park please contact us , We can help recover of may have info for you .

Thank you
Rob and Tim
