✨FEATURE FRIDAY✨

Some runners don’t just show up on race day. They become part of what makes the running community so special.

Joe is one of those runners.

He’s a familiar face around Two Rivers Running, a dedicated athlete and someone who continues to show up and support the running community whenever he can. Even with a busy schedule, Joe finds a way to make training happen. Sometimes it’s while most of us are still sleeping.

He’s trained with Two Rivers Running, crossed the Two Rivers Half Marathon finish line three times and right now he’s putting in the miles for number FOUR!

So when we asked past participants:
“Why should you run the Two Rivers Half Marathon or Ryan Bielke 5K?”
Here’s what Joe had to say:

“Why do I run the Two Rivers Half?
I moved to New Braunfels a few years ago. I was looking for a challenge and something to keep me accountable. I found Two Rivers and their training program specifically for this half marathon. What I got when I signed up was not what I expected that I needed. I got a plan that challenged me, kept me safe and prepped me to finish this half marathon challenge. What I also got was a great community of runners that I consider my run family. Everyone involved with this run is caring and supportive and really made me feel welcome.

This is why I have run this race three times and I’m currently training for my fourth.” -Joe Fitts

Joe came looking for a challenge and some accountability. He found a finish line and a run family along the way.

This week, we’re featuring Katie!

Katie is no stranger to the Two Rivers Half Marathon, having taken on the course several times over the years. While her heart may be happiest out on the trails, she’s also spent plenty of miles running alongside friends from Two Rivers Running community.

So when we asked past participants:
“If someone asked you, why should I run the Two Rivers Half Marathon or Ryan Bielke 5k?
What would you tell them?”

Katie shared one one of the things that keeps bringing her back:

💬“Two rivers half is one of my favorite races because river road is so peaceful and beautiful, it doesn't feel like you're running in town. Everyone is friendly and it just feels like a big family because even strangers are out there cheering for you.”

It’s more than a beautiful course along River Road. It’s the runners beside you, the volunteers supporting you and the people you’ve never met cheering like they’ve known you for years,

Gabby is a beast!!

“The race starts at Mile 70.”

Gabby De La Rosa is an all-star in the New Braunfels running community. Some may refer to her as the MVR — Most Valuable Runner.

Congratulations to Gabby for this stupendous feat! She put in lots of miles and lots of hours to earn this. Words can’t express how proud of her we are. She’s not just a fantastic athlete - she’s also a fantastic person. Gabby, we are so happy to have you in our run family.
