Delps hunting grounds

Delps hunting grounds John Delp, owner of Delp’s hunting grounds established the hunting grounds in 2002. The hunting grounds can accommodate 50 to 60 hunters a day.

There are 120 acres that are huntable. 50 acres of sorghum and the remainder of natural cover.

Quail forever. Ever seen a quail nest with 26 eggs in it?

Dr. Fidel Hernandez at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute stated this is the largest known quail nest observed in Texas. The nest was found on upland enthusiast Eric Grahmann's property, who has worked to improve habitat on his land by targeted grazing, woody encroachment removal and reestablishing native grasses and forbs. Large nests such as these are usually the work of multiple hens according to Quail Forever coordinating wildlife biologist Jocelyn Hernandez. Grahmann spotted a large group of quail chicks after the nest hatched that matched the age class that would be expected for a successful hatch! Needless to say, the hens who took care of the nest will have their hands full taking care of such a large brood.
