All Mountain Man Custom Calls are hand-made and hand-tuned. We offer realistic sounding calls for hunting. We started with slate turkey calls. We experimented with various materials to match up the sound frequency's that the actual wild turkey hears. After building numerous calls and field tests we developed a slate over glass sound board call that works. It is a call that gobblers respond to. N

ext, we expanded into duck calls and deer grunt calls. I named the custom calls after a friend of mine from the North Carolina Mountains. He was a true mountain man. He hunted with everything traditional and even his clothing was hand made. He taught me how to call turkeys and helped me kill my first long beard gobbler over twenty years ago. He always loved slate calls and he passed on a few years ago. So, I decided to dedicate the name of the calls to Doug.. Mountain Man Custom Calls originated from me trying to build a call that i liked. The call sounded real and it worked great. I wanted a call that worked consistently calling in long beard turkeys . We pride ourselves in being hunters and making calls for hunters. I partnered with Bob McElwain who does call building and all the laser designs on calls. I sincerely hope you enjoy using our calls.
