Congratulations to Miguel, Gia, and Waverly on their stripe promotions. Miguel is working towards his next belt and likes to make lots of jokes. He has made a lot of growth both in his jitsu and social skills. Gia is quickly becoming a warrior princess. She is working on honing her skills and is a great teammate. Waverly is our youngest student but that doesn’t hold her back. She is picking everything up super fast and has no problem putting dad is a few chokeholds. One of the greatest thing about jitsu is watching our students persevere through challenges. They all start for different reasons. They struggle and then struggle some more but they make progress every single day.

Big congrats to these fine fellows. Owen is about 1/3 of the way to his next belt. He is a powerhouse on the mats and learning how to coach the newer students. Oscar always gives his all and we are looking forward to him running circles around us after his cross country season.

Better late than never… big congratulations to Harrison, Acacia, and Lincoln on their stripe promotions last week. Each of them put a lot of heart and effort into practice every class. While Acacia is not nearly as giggly as the boys, they all are eager to push themselves out of their comfort zone to progress. Harrison is growing as a mentor to the lower ranks. Acacia is always looking forward to a challenge. Lincoln goes against the bigger students to improve both his physical and mental skills. We are proud of them and all our students.

One of the rewards of teaching/coaching is the look on their face when they are promoted. This picture did not replicate that look😎. Despite the tornado warnings blazing from everyone’s phone, the siren going off for hail, the shoes prep to head to the basement, and the exodus of students and their parents trying to beat the deluge, Tornado Joe earned his belt. We are proud of Joe. His perseverance and his spirit are to be celebrated.

Congratulations to Jodi and Tyler (aka Giggles) on their stripe promotions. Jodi is just awesome. Tough. Smart. Never backs down and always shows up. In a male dominated sport, I get a warm fuzzy every time one of the boys says, “oh no I have to go against Jodi” or “she’s tough.”
Giggles never gives up. Doesn’t cut corners and his giggles light up the whole academy.
