Happy Monday SwimRunners!

We had to make a few changes to the LONG course because of safety and damage to of the TWO smaller islands. The long course will roughly be the same swim distance and about 1.5 more miles of running. Check out the website for details when it goes LIVE at NOON.

We will keep you updated with pictures and progress as we work on the course over the next several months.

Guess what?? That's right registration is now open for 2027. So exciting for all of us.

Shhhh. 😉 We’re coming back in 2027. Meet Stan G. Sherman he’s jumping on board and helping me bring it back. We’ve been through a lot these past 2 years and still have a lot of work to do but wanted to get you guys an official date. Here goes SwimRunners.

SwimRunners,

We really appreciate everyone reaching out and we apologize for the delay in response. However, we want to update everyone on the status of SwimRun Lake James.

As most of you are aware, Hurricane Helene impacted Western North Carolina and unfortunately, our course and the state park was not spared.

We have had a some communication with the Fire Department and State Park and it is not in great shape. Most if not all folks have power back, but there is a tremendous amount of clean up within the course/park.

We've not been given permission to access the park or outlying areas where we race. We do hope to see it, but that is likely in December or January. According the the State Park website:

"All trails in the park are closed due to devastation from Hurricane Helene.
All biking trails, including the state park's section of the Fonta Flora State Trail, are closed due to devastation from Hurricane Helene."

Additionally, we are not comfortable pulling local resources to volunteer or work our event.

With this said, it comes with a heavy heart that we will probably not be able to race in 2025. The team will keep you posted with any updates.
