Two tournaments to consider if you live in the North Carolina Triad Area.

It is tournament season! If you have never played in a tournament now is the time to dip your feet in and support some great causes while you play!

Sept 19th is the 3rd annual Lewisville Chamber of Commerce tourney and it’s INSIDE at DILL DINKERS with A/C no more 100 degree tournaments! There are lots of events surrounding this tourney like beginners clinics etc for those who aren’t ready for tourney play just yet. Click the link below to join all the fun! Sept 26th at Pinetop Sports Club in Greensboro! If you haven’t been there this facility is top notch and literally my FAVORITE PLACE TO PLAY they offer a huge Olympic size Pool, tennis, sand volleyball, pickleball, bar and grill, TVs so you don’t have to miss the college football games and a covered deck with fans and misters too! After teaching and coaching pickleball in The Triangle since September 2016, I am announcing that I taught my final lesson on June 30, 2026. It has been a wonderful ten-year journey working with players of all ages and skill levels.

My journey began in 2012 when a group of players invited me to join them. I fell in love with the sport immediately and eventually found a community in Cary, NC, led by Mike Walsh and Luis Vazquez. Thanks to their encouragement, I became a pickleball ambassador for Raleigh in 2014.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Diane Sauer, Ken Hisler, Billy Aubut, Susan Adams, and Laura Brannon for their vision in bringing pickleball to our community centers and establishing dedicated outdoor courts at Method Road, North Hills, and Sanderford Road Parks. Their efforts helped spark a wave of interest that has made North Carolina the fastest-growing pickleball community in the nation.

I also want to thank my mentor Karen Parrish; IPTPA Founder, Seymour Rifkind; Mark Renneson of Third Shot Sports; and Rob and Mike Barnes of Selkirk Sport for their support over the last 12 years. A special thanks goes to my first tournament partner and the founder of PickleballCarolina, Brian Elliott, who was instrumental in helping me launch my coaching career.

Finally, thank you to all of my students. I have truly enjoyed every lesson and have took great pride in watching your games grow. The City of Raleigh opened its first outdoor pickleball facility at Method Community Park eleven years ago. Subsequently, they have added North Hills Park and Sanderford Community Center. Wake County now boasts over a hundred pickleball courts, both public and private.
