A lateral slide might feel like a powerful weight shift, but it actually drains energy from your swing and causes all kinds of impact problems.

When you slide toward the target instead of rotating, the hips get stuck and the arms have to do extra work to square the face at impact. This leads to pushes, hooks, and thin contact.

The goal is rotation, not translation. Think about turning your trail hip behind you in the backswing and then clearing your lead hip through on the downswing.

A good turn keeps the club on a better path and delivers far more consistent results.

Swinging hard does not always mean swinging efficiently. When the wrong muscles take over, you lose both power and control.

In a proper golf swing, the large muscles of the hips, glutes, and core should be doing most of the heavy lifting. When golfers rely too much on their hands and arms, timing becomes the only thing holding the swing together.

Focus on initiating movement from your core and hips first. The arms and hands should feel like they are just along for the ride.

Training muscle sequencing is what separates consistent ball strikers from everyone else.
