We had a great time participating in Career Motive-8 with Naperville Community Unit School District 203 for our 5th consecutive year! 🎉

Our team enjoyed connecting with local 8th graders, sharing our passion for chiropractic care and sports medicine, and putting their balance to the test with a fun stability pad challenge!

A big thank you to Naperville 203 for organizing another fantastic event and giving us the opportunity to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals!

Shin splints bothering you when you run? Here are three things I recommend: reduce your running and jumping volume, make sure your shoes aren’t worn out, and build strength and endurance through your calves, ankles, and feet. The goal isn’t to simply run through the pain—it’s to manage your training load, improve your capacity, and gradually work your way back.

Experiencing lower back pain when squatting or deadlifting? 🏋️ Dr. Max Warren breaks down some common lifting mechanics and demonstrates how adjustments to your technique, hip hinge, and weight distribution may help improve movement and reduce discomfort. Small changes can make a difference!

💪 Want to build a stronger core? Our intern Jeni picked out 4 of her favorite core exercises to challenge your strength, stability, and control!

These include the stability ball squeeze, stability ball stir the pot, front plank body saw, and bear crawls.

Each exercise challenges your core in a different way, making them great additions to your training routine!

Which one is your favorite?

Congratulations to our patient Tony on an incredible performance at the Chicago Marathon, running a huge personal best of 3:02! 🏃‍♂️ Tony stopped by EPI for some well-deserved post-race recovery. We’re excited to see what’s next for him, and we have a feeling that sub-3-hour marathon is right around the corner!

Attention hands-on professionals! If you’re a chiropractor, massage therapist, physical therapist, manual therapist, or anyone else who uses their hands all day, your hands could probably use some recovery too. Grab a tennis ball, massage ball, or lacrosse ball and slowly roll it through your palm, spending a little extra time on areas that feel tight or tender. It’s a simple way to work through the palmar fascia and the muscles and connective tissues of the hand. Give it a try after your next long day of hands-on work.

Looking for a few simple resistance band exercises to add to your routine? Dr. Max demonstrates four options targeting the shoulders, hips, and core: a shoulder extension isometric with scap raise, hip adduction, hip abduction, and the Pallof press. Resistance bands are an easy way to add strength and control work without needing much equipment.
