I’m back at the world-famous Hudy Arena for one of the highlights of the year, the XRS Grand Final! An event exclusively hosted for XRAY customers & team drivers. Always with a special, friendly & fun atmosphere, yet with competitive racing on the tracks (both RC and karting tracks)! I’m getting some practice in today and tomorrow and eventually qualifying on Saturday. I am racing modified TC & Pan Car 235mm (13.5T blinky) at this event! Stay tuned for updates! 🇸🇰🏁

Sanwa M17/S - How to change ST/TH units!

The Sanwa M17/S is a high-end, precise radio transmitter for RC car competition. It's one of the most popular transmitters on the market, but like anything, it won't last forever, nor is it immune to wear.

I personally replace mine (the whole unit) every calendar year. But as you know, I drive A LOT.

First of all - what is a potentiometer?

A potentiometer (often called a "pot") is a type of manually adjustable variable resistor. A radio transmitter for R/C car use has two of them, one for each channel (steering & throttle). It's what generates the physical steering wheel/trigger's digital signal that is sent to the car's receiver.

Sanwa recommends changing potentiometers every 200 hours of use because of wear, and the risk of the potentiometers failing.

In this video I guide you through how to change the complete TH- and ST- units (which is sold as spare) which is much easier & quicker than specifically replacing the potentiometers only. I will also show you an indication of when it's time to change the units, and what warning signs to look out for.

The spare ST- and TH unit set has part number S.107A90661A.

Tech tip for your XRAY X4'26! Due to the high stress on transmission in today's TC modified class, especially on high-speed, and dusty outdoor tracks, I would like to suggest the use of 48P gears, for improved durability. Fine-tuning of gearing in modified isn't really needed, nor is efficiency an issue. Using a 48P set of pinion and spur gear is guaranteed to reduce issues with spur gears stripping, which can allow you to finish those important qualifiers- and finals in case small stones (for example) get onto your gears.

Still having issues? Make sure that 1. Your gear mesh isn't too wide or too tight 2. Your brake EPA on the transmitter isn't excessively high.

On big outdoor tracks I use a gearing of 84/23 as a starting point, which is part numbers 305784 and 294023 (HUDY).

Tech tip for your XRAY X4'26:

Many customers asked me how to set caster with the new optional #302242 Lightweight Alu Hubs, since the original X4 caster gauges won't perfectly fit the profile of the hub.

I shim up the gauge 2mm, and try to center it as good as I can before measuring caster. This is the best way to measure caster with this hub (for now) until we have new caster gauge with perfect fitment for this particular part.

P9 at the ETS - Euro Touring Series in Apeldoorn! Ultra high competition as always at these events. Happy with my qualifying results, but the mains didn’t go my way! Will push harder to improve for the next few events! Special thanks to Bart Wubben and Invisible Speed RC for the support!

I have one weekend off this coming week - which I’m looking forward to 🇵🇹, and then my next event will be the XRS Grand Final at Hudy Arena in June! 🇸🇰

Spännande nyheter från Latera!

Latera går nu in i ett nytt och riktigt spännande kapitel där nya ägare tar över stafettpinnen och fortsätter utveckla det som byggts upp under de senaste åren.

Just nu pågår flytten av lagret från Göteborg till Karlskrona för fullt. Målet är att allt ska vara klart under helgen, vilket innebär att leveranser från och med måndag kommer att fungera som vanligt och skickas från vårt nya lager.

Framöver kommer vi att fokusera ännu hårdare på de varumärken och produkter som vi verkligen brinner för. Det betyder ett smalare men starkare sortiment, bättre lagerhållning och ännu bättre support för er som kör och tävlar inom sporten.
