I expected to spend the day talking about fishing. Instead, I spent the day completely amazed.
These two young boys, probably no older than 4, 5, and 6 years old, spent the entire trip answering math problems their dad threw at them. Multiplication, division, square roots, addition, subtraction. It didn’t matter. The answers came back instantly, all in their heads.
What impressed me wasn’t just how smart these kids are. It was seeing a father who clearly spends time teaching, encouraging, and challenging his children every day.
Out on the ocean, surrounded by rockfish and beautiful water, I got a reminder that some of the most important work we do isn’t at our jobs. It’s the time we invest in our kids.
These boys are going places, and judging by what I saw today, they have an incredible dad helping them get there.
Honestly one of the most impressive things I’ve witnessed on a fishing trip.
