It was a great weekend for us on the water!

Saturday, Ricky Robles and the PMAF crew staged a full boat takeover alongside Drop ’Em Baits, and once again those 9” grubs proved absolutely irresistible to the lings. We were into double digits before the end of the first drift! 😂

Sunday, Been There Caught That Tackle out of Santa Maria brought the Fishing Syndicate crew aboard for their charter, and the action didn’t disappoint. The fish were chewing, the lings showed up, and the giveaways were flowing! One lucky angler walked away with a brand-new Fishing Syndicate rod, while another scored an Okuma Komodo reel.

Great weather, a hot bite, awesome giveaways, and some of our favorite people to fish with—it’s hard to ask for a better combination than that!

🔥 We started this week’s run with a bang and haven’t let off the gas yet! 😂

Thursday we had Chad from Hook Up Baits aboard for a 12-hour trip, and while the ocean wasn’t exactly gentle, the fish sure weren’t either—they were CHEWING!

With the wind and swell keeping us tucked in below the lighthouse, we focused on the inshore grounds, and the Hook Up Baits absolutely shined. The little guys couldn’t get a bait in edgewise as chunky olives, reds, blues, starrys, and coppers piled into the sacks. Everyone got their fish and powered through the conditions like champs. 💪

Friday followed it up with an all-out LING SLAYFEST! 🔥

Our anglers put 42 lingcod on the deck, with every single passenger taking home at least one and a whole lot of guys filling their limits. Big smiles, sore arms, and bent rods were the theme of the day!

We watched multiple anglers land their first legal lingcod, while several others smashed personal bests. Add in mostly limits of big reds, some absolute unit coppers, and a great widow rockfish bite, and the sacks got downright ridiculous.

These shorter trips are producing in a big way right now, so if you’ve been thinking about getting out on the water, grab a spot on the rail and come get in on the action! 🎣

So many cool things happened this last week, but our posts are a little behind thanks to me (Gambit) absolutely destroying my knee and missing three trips 😭😂

Last Thursday was our annual Western Outdoor News charter sponsored by Madame Lures, and if you missed that one, trust me—I feel your pain because I missed it too and was NOT happy about it! Rain, wind, and challenging conditions made for a memorable day, but a great group of anglers and some of my favorite people to fish with still went out and did work in Jurassic Park. About halfway through the trip my phone started blowing up with texts from guys celebrating personal bests on multiple rockfish species, which definitely made me even more jealous of being stuck on shore 🤣

The rest of the week followed the same theme: great fishing, awesome people, and plenty of fish volunteering for the fish fry. The ling bite continues to be solid, the rockfish are chewing, and the smiles coming off the dock have been hard to miss.

Today we’re heading back out with Chad and the crew from Hook Up Baits, and social media should finally get back to its regularly scheduled programming!

This weekend is completely booked up, but we still have spots available on Friday and Monday’s local trips, and those openings are absolutely SCREAMING three-day weekend adventure to me 😂. The local fishing has been producing too, so if you’ve been thinking about getting on the water, now’s the time.
