HHHHHEEEEYYYYYYY!!!! IT'S GAMEDAY!!! Here's the GAMEDAY story from KVOM 101.7: (note: no AI was used to make this graphic)
The Morrilton High School football team takes on former conference foe Vilonia on Friday night as the Devil Dogs go on the road for the first time this season. Morrilton and Vilonia both picked up a win in their season opener last week. The Devil Dogs beat Russellville, 35-13; the Eagles beat Nettleton, 39-33. Morrilton dominated Vilonia last season, winning 42-14, and has won 11 of the past 15 games in the series. Vilonia finished just 3-7 a year ago, but the Eagles have a new head coach this year – former Devil Dog quarterback Kyle Russell, who has been on the Vilonia staff the last five years. Morrilton Coach Cody McNabb expects to see the Eagles run the ball a little bit more this year than they have in recent years.
“Kyle’s been running the offense, and does a good job with that,” McNabb said. “It looks a little bit different this year. It’s a little more run-first. They get a little thicker. They’ve got a tight end and an H-back that are in there and they’ll run the football – a lot of downhill stuff, a lot of duo and coming right at you, and then the quarterback runs it a lot, too.”
Due to the excessive heat, the kickoff for Friday’s game has been pushed back to 7:30 p.m. We’ll bring you all the action live on 101.7 KVOM and online at kvom.com, and you can watch the live video stream with our audio broadcast on the Morrilton High School Dawg Trax page on YouTube. Our pregame coverage starts at 6:00 p.m. with the Perry County Coaches’ Show. That’s followed by the RARN High School Gameday Show at 6:15 and the Devil Dog Coach’s Show with Coach McNabb at 6:50 before our live broadcast with Eric Tyler and Jim Bowles from the Haynes Home Center Broadcast Booth at around 7:15.
