SHOULD WOMEN LIFT HEAVY OR LIGHT? 💪
The answer? Neither.
You should lift a weight that challenges you while still allowing you to maintain good form.
“Heavy” is relative. A 15 lb dumbbell may be heavy for one woman and light for another. The number on the dumbbell isn’t the goal. The challenge is.
A simple way to know:
💪 If you finish a set and could easily do 8/10 more reps, go heavier.
💪 If your form starts falling apart, go lighter.
💪 Ideally, finish feeling like you could do another 1–3 good reps if you absolutely had to.
And you don’t have to stay in one rep range. Depending on the exercise and your goal, you might work anywhere from 5–10/12+ reps.
The key is progressive overload, and that doesn’t always mean adding more weight. Progress can also mean adding reps, improving your range of motion, using better form, or CONTROLLING the weight more effectively.
No matter your age or fitness level, your body needs to be challenged to get stronger.
Train smart. Challenge yourself. Keep progressing. 💪
Your body still needs a reason to stay strong. Give it one. 🩷
