It's been lots of fun this month! We held our CORE and competition team auditions, prep-clincis and camps along with our last month of recreation classes and summer camps. It's been fun, summer - but dance season, here we come! 🧑‍🩰

At Dance West we want to instill strong leadership skills and professionalism in our dancers, not only to create great dancers but to create great leaders outside of the studio. Through our Student Teacher Education Program (STEP) dancers as young as age 9 have the opportunity to gain valuable skills through becoming a STEP assistant. Looking to have your student join? ✨ Meet the Teacher: Miss Sierra!

We want you to get to know the amazing team inspiring your dancers every day! Here’s a look into Miss Sierra’s background.

A Philadelphia native now based in Minneapolis, Miss Sierra is a modern and contemporary dance artist with six years of experience teaching ballet, contemporary, jazz, and modern at youth studios! While earning her degree in Business Management at Temple University, she trained extensively in Horton, Graham, and classical/contemporary ballet with Philadanco’s Danco 2 Apprentice Company.

Her rich performance background includes dancing with contemporary companies like Empire Dance Company and IRIS/Dancers across the NY/Philly metro area, performing at venues like World of Dance and Dixon Place. Recently, she debuted her first full-length choreographic work, Mood, at the 2025 Philadelphia Fringe Festival and has presented work at Koresh Dance Company’s showcase series and a BalletX pre-show at the Highmark Mann Center! 🎭

In class, Miss Sierra brings high-level technical training, rich choreographic artistry, and a passion for nurturing versatile dancers. Her vibrant experience in both concert dance and youth instruction inspires students to push their creative and technical boundaries!
