🏒 Sport-Specific Training for Hockey Players
At FAST Athletics, we don’t just train athletes hard — we train them specifically for the movements they use in their sport.
One example is the “Step Under” drill shown here. This movement directly relates to the crossover stride in hockey and is a great way to build lateral speed, edge control, and power while developing the same muscles used on the ice.
Why does this matter?
Hockey isn’t just straight-line speed. Athletes need to:
• Generate force laterally
• Transfer power through crossover mechanics
• Stay low and powerful through direction changes
• Accelerate while moving side-to-side
The Step Under drill helps train:
✅ Glutes and adductors used in skating
✅ Lateral force production
✅ Cross-body coordination
✅ Explosive crossover mechanics
✅ On-ice speed development
At FAST Athletics, we combine sport science, speed training, and hockey-specific movement patterns to help athletes move better, skate faster, and perform at a higher level.
