On Friday at Urban Daisy, I took a moment to look around the dance floor. Seeing so many of you dancing and having a good time, I thought, “When did that dream of mine turn into this?” Thank you for the energy, the joy, and the love of dance you bring to every social. ❤️
I want to share something that came to mind that night. There was a time when I wanted to be a singer. I still love to sing, but some of us don’t have that talent, and I still remember something my voice teacher told me more than once. “What you can see, you may already have. So keep dreaming and run toward what you can’t yet see.”
My teacher has an incredible voice and is a wonderful classical pianist. He was born blind, and when he talked to me about going after what you can’t yet see, I knew he was speaking from his own experience. Those words have stayed with me ever since.
I thought about him on Friday. There was a time when I couldn’t picture a dance floor full of people dancing with us. I couldn’t picture the new One Reason building we’re getting ready to open, either. Now I look at where God has brought me and the people I get to share this with, and all I can say is thank you.
First, I thank God. He’s everything to me. To my One Reason family, the coolest family in the world, thank you for dreaming with me and encouraging me to take the next step even when we can’t see what’s ahead. And to the Minnesota dance community, thank you for showing up, social after social. Without you, that dance floor would just be a floor. Everything we do is for you, too.
