It's been quite a week. 10 class sessions of various sorts and lengths. Conversations with colleagues. Tutorial and philosophical counseling work with clients. A good bit of writing, shooting videos, & editing podcast episodes. Even a few online events. Pretty tired now. One more podcast episode to finish editing, and other than a bit of writing at home tonight, I'm done!

Underwritten by the support of my Patreon backers, I offer an Ask Me Anything session for supporters, viewers, listeners, readers, and other fans each month.

We do AMA sessions each month, and you can find them on the ReasonIO events calendar and on my Facebook author page. You'll want to get your questions in early since a lot of viewers typically have questions to ask. You don't need to ask the same question multiple times.

Most of the questions I answer have to deal with Philosophy, Political Theory, History, Literature, or Religious Studies, but some stray into other areas like Music or popular culture.

Keep the discussion civil - being a jerk to participants or to me might get you booted from the channel.

Here's the next Sadler's Lectures podcast episode on Michel de Montaigne's essays, this one focused upon his "On Fear" (De la Peur), where he looks at how that emotion typically skews our judgements, and says that what he is most afraid of is fear itself

This lecture discusses key ideas from the Renaissance-era philosopher, critic, and essayist Michel De Montaigne's work Essays, specifically his essay On Fear (De la Peur), in which he discusses that

Here's a piece looking at a concern raised by one of the students in my online Ancient Virtue Ethics: Three Main Traditions course. In my experience, it's a fairly common worry about the relationship between virtues and external goods. So I wrote this

🐾 Fundraising Friday: Let's talk about the unglamorous side of rescue... 🐱

Everyone loves seeing a cat find their forever home, but have you ever wondered what it costs to get them there?

In 2025 alone, our baseline bill for just food, litter, and everyday care supplies came out to $13,142.

That means we have to clear an average of $1,096 a month just to keep our shelter and foster network stocked with the bare essentials.
It’s a quiet, recurring cost, but it is exactly what makes saving lives possible.

💡 How you can help right now:
By donating a physical item from our wish list, you take a massive financial weight off our shoulders and directly fuel:
- Nutritious meals for growing kittens and recovering adults.
- Spotless, safe environments for cats waiting on E. Ogden Avenue and in foster care.
- Our community pet pantry, helping neighbors keep their beloved pets at home.

📦 Ship supplies straight to our door here:
https://www.almosthomemke.com/wish-list

Whether you send one toy or a whole pallet of food, you are keeping the rescue moving forward.

Thank you for being a part of our rescue family! 💛

Was digging around in some old hard drives and found this course video I produced for an online startup educational platform that was going to "revolutionize education" but (as most of them do) ran though investor money and went bust. See what you think!
