A quick tip from our Golf Shop staff…

When you’re checking in, grabbing a drink, shopping, or stopping into the clubhouse, we recommend leaving your golf bag and clubs outside rather than bringing them into the Golf Shop.

It helps us keep the shop a little less crowded, makes it easier for everyone to move around, and helps avoid clubs or bags accidentally bumping into merchandise and displays.

Of course, this is assuming YOU feel comfortable and your clubs are in a safe spot outside. We certainly don’t want you leaving them somewhere you’re not comfortable with.

A small thing, but one that helps keep the Golf Shop running smoothly. Thanks for helping us out!

Player Assistant or Ranger?

At PV, we prefer Player Assistant, and I think Bill does a great job explaining why.

Yes, pace of play is part of the job, but it’s not the entire job. Our Player Assistants are there to help. That might mean helping find a ball, answering a question, helping with a cart or GPS issue, or simply checking in with groups throughout their round.

When it does come to pace of play, communication is a big part of what we ask our team to do. We track groups throughout the course, look for gaps and try to communicate early so players know where they stand and have an opportunity to make an adjustment.

Sometimes it can be as simple as changing how you use your golf cart or being a little more efficient between shots.

Thanks to Bill and the rest of our Player Assistant team for everything they do out on the golf course.

And I think Bill gave us a couple ideas for future videos while we were at it.

One of the best parts of what we do is hearing from the people who spend a lot of time with us.

After playing in two recent outings, PV pass holder Ty Spence sent us this note:

“Your team always makes it an amazing experience and it is no wonder why PV is the number one outing destination. Although they may disrupt daily play from time to time, I know they play an important part in allowing the course to function at the level it does. Seeing the outings from the participant side negates any hard feelings about the number of outings.”

And after Monday’s Spartan Open, Ty found a little more golf before calling it a day:

“Opening up a 6:20 twilight tee time for me was just what I needed and I got to end another amazing outing day on the Woods at sunset. Not only is the course kept immaculate, it never fails to impress on its namesake.”

He sent along these photos from his evening nine.

Thanks for the kind words, Ty! And for spending so many of your days with us at PV. We appreciate it!!

A couple quick tips if you find yourself falling behind on the golf course.

Cut out the extra practice swings, stay active and athletic over the ball instead of standing there frozen for a while, and don’t be afraid to move up a tee if that’s where you’ll have the most fun.

Play the course from a distance that fits your game. And if you’re playing with friends or in league, just make sure everyone’s okay with it.

A few simple adjustments can help you keep pace, play better, and enjoy your round.

As parents, it’s natural to want to help. We want to find the right coach, schedule the lessons, buy the equipment, and make sure our kids are getting better.

But sometimes, the best thing we can give them is space to explore and play. Private instruction absolutely has a place in a golfer’s development. A good coach can provide guidance, feedback, and tools to help a player improve.

But kids also need opportunities for guided discovery, exploration, and free play. We want to help create curious, confident golfers who can think for themselves and, most importantly, enjoy the game.

PACE OF PLAY REMINDER!

Every golf course has its own pace-of-play expectations, so it’s important to know the policy where you’re playing.

At Pleasant View Golf Course, our pace-of-play standard is:

18 holes: 4 hours 30 minutes
9 holes: 2 hours 15 minutes

But pace-of-play isn’t just about the clock. One of the most important things you can do is keep up with the group in front of you.

Your position on the course should be based on the group ahead of you, not the group behind you.

Keep up with the group ahead. Enjoy your round. Play ready golf!
