Graceful, athletic and unmistakably African, the Impala is one of the iconic antelope of the African savanna. Native to eastern and southern Africa, Impala are built for speed and survival, living in herds and remaining constantly alert to their surroundings.

Mature rams are especially striking, with a sleek reddish-brown coat, distinctive black and white markings, and long, ridged horns that sweep outward and upward in a beautiful lyre shape. Unlike antlers, these horns are permanent and continue to give an older, mature ram an impressive profile.

What makes the Impala particularly exciting is its athleticism. These animals are exceptionally quick and agile, capable of making dramatic leaps to escape danger, including jumps of roughly 10 feet high and more than 30 feet in distance. Combine that ability with the awareness of a herd, and getting into position on a mature ram can make for an exciting hunt.

🦌 Two incredible trophy bucks and unforgettable memories at Rockin DK Ranch!

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Matt and Stacie for a trophy whitetail hunt, and what a hunt it was!

Matt harvested an impressive 178" buck, while Stacie brought home a beautiful 168" buck! This was Stacie's first BIG buck, and let us tell you, her excitement was contagious! 🤎

As much as we love seeing these incredible trophies, what makes it even more special is getting to share these moments with the people who come through our gates.

And the best part? Matt and Stacie are already planning their next family adventure! They've booked an oryx hunt for their daughter, and we can't wait to help make another unforgettable memory for this family.

🦌 A Rare Beauty at Rockin DK Ranch!

Every now and then, nature gives us something truly extraordinary, and this beautiful albino whitetail buck is one of those special blessings here at Rockin DK Ranch.

Did you know that true albino whitetail deer are exceptionally rare, often estimated at around 1 in 20,000 deer?

Albinism is an inherited genetic condition that affects the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for coloring the skin, hair, and eyes. True albino deer typically have an all-white coat, pink noses, and pink or reddish eyes.

We've had the privilege of watching this magnificent buck grow since the day he was born. He's certainly one of a kind, and we're proud to have him as part of the Rockin DK Ranch family.

For us, wildlife management is about more than growing impressive trophy bucks. It's about appreciating the incredible genetics, diversity, and beauty of the animals God has entrusted to our care.

And this fellow is a pretty special reminder of just how amazing nature can be 🤎

There’s something special about the quiet of a new day on the ranch, watching the sun come up over land we are blessed to call home.

GUIDED WILDEBEEST HUNTS!

Native to Southern and Eastern Africa | Known for its rugged appearance, heavy horns and unmistakable African character

The Blue Wildebeest is one of the most iconic animals of the African plains. Native to the grasslands and savannas of southern and eastern Africa, wildebeest are powerful, heavily built antelope with broad shoulders, a shaggy mane and beard, and distinctive curved horns. Mature animals can weigh several hundred pounds, giving them an impressive presence in the field.

Also known as the gnu, the Blue Wildebeest gets its name from the silvery-blue sheen of its dark gray coat. Both males and females carry horns that extend outward before curving upward and inward, while mature bulls develop heavier horn bases and a particularly rugged appearance.

Wildebeest are naturally social herd animals and are famous for being constantly on the move. In their native Africa, enormous herds travel across the savanna in search of fresh grazing and water as part of one of the world's great wildlife migrations. Their alert nature, herd instincts, and ability to cover ground make pursuing the right mature bull an exciting hunting experience.

With their muscular build, sweeping horns, and unmistakably wild appearance, a mature Wildebeest brings a little piece of the African plains to Texas and makes an impressive addition to any trophy collection.

We spent our Labor Day weekend at the ranch with family and friends doing a little bit of working hard and playing hard as we get ready for a busy 2026-2027 hunting season!

There’s always something to be done around here, but we wouldn’t trade this life for anything. The long days, hard work, time spent together, and getting to share this place with the people who come through our gates, it’s a life we are incredibly grateful for.

We are reminded just how blessed we are to call Rockin' DK Ranch home and to do what we love.

Grateful for this land. Grateful for this life. And above all, to God be ALL the glory. 🙏🦌
