According to studies (like one famously published, in the New England Journal of medicine) ballroom dancing is one of the best activities for the brain health. Because it requires split-second decision-making, physical coordination, and musical timing all at once, it stimulates rapid brain activity. It’s actually shown to reduce the risk of dementia more than reading or doing crossword puzzles!

So when you’re laughing through a tricky step in class, you aren’t just having fun you’re literally giving your brain a workout.
