🌎⚽The World Cup is finally coming back to North America, but Merced has been living the fútbol culture for decades. We’re taking a moment to celebrate the Champions of our own beautiful game right here at home.🏆

Another season of Merced United League soccer is in the books, bringing together players, families, friends, and supporters from across Merced County every Sunday. Our adult league is about staying connected to the game, creating a space for families to gather, representing your roots, and keeping the fútbol tradition alive for the next generation watching from the sidelines.

Congratulations to our Spring 2026 Champions:
🥇Primera División- Cotija FC
🥇Segunda División- Dynamo
🥇Tercera División A- Chuper Amigos
🥇Tercera División B- Costco FC
🥇Cuarta División- Pub Boys FC

Porque el fútbol no termina cuando termina la juventud. It lives on through friendships, family traditions, Sunday mornings, and the passion we bring to the pitch every week. The trophies have been handed out, but there’s no offseason in Merced. The next season kicks off this Sunday, and we’re ready to do it all over again.🔁🔁

⚽️❤️🖤From Rec fields to Competitive teams. From learning the game to teaching it.

Last week, our MUFC 2010 NPL Girls gave back to the next generation of Merced United players by leading our Youth Soccer Camp, creating an opportunity for young players to learn from high level athletes and coaches right here in our comMUnity.

As Kylie Fimbrez shared, “The players had the opportunity to learn from high level players and coaches, challenge themselves in a fun environment, and grow both on and off the field. Beyond the soccer skills they learned the importance of hard work, confidence, communication, and being great teammates.”

What makes this camp special is that many of these young players started their journey in our Recreational Program. Now they’re seeing firsthand what the next step can look like. From ages 4 and up, we’re building a true pathway for local players to develop, compete, lead, and eventually give back to the next generation.

Kylie also reflected that, “The best part was watching them step outside their comfort zones, make new connections, and come away inspired to keep improving.” That’s exactly what player development should be about. We’re proud of every player who showed up ready to learn and every older player who stepped up to mentor, coach, and lead. Experiences like these remind us that development is about much more than soccer. It’s about building character, confidence, resilience, and community.

Y apenas estamos empezando. We’ll continue creating opportunities like this for local players to learn, grow, and represent Merced at every stage of their journey.

🔴⚪️⚫️Last night Chris, Kylie, Aaron, and our Competitive Committee met with coaches after work👷🏻‍♂️🚌👩🏽‍🏫🏋️🧳⛑️🥐📋💪🦺 💻to review the coordination and organization of our upcoming Tryouts, especially with the new age group matrix changes.

Coaches asked great questions around collaboration between teams, player movement, and how we continue growing as one club. One of the key points came from Coach Lino and Coach Ronnie, who spoke about motivating each other as coaches to aim for the highest level in each age group. That mindset matters because when one team levels up, the whole club improves, y crecemos todos🫡

Our DOC Profe, explained that after tryouts and again during the season, we will meet to discuss player movement and the age group matrix to make sure we are aligned. We want to make sure we understand coache’s goals and learn how the club can better support them como familia.

Talent identification continues to be an important focus for Merced United and this meeting gave us a lot of hope and excitement for what’s ahead. The new age group changes give us a chance to step back and think about how to comMUnicate better, collaborate more, and how we can continue building a stronger Competitive Program together.

Grassroots is more than a course. It is our foundation. From creating fun and engaging sessions to emphasizing more touches and technical awareness, our focus is on long term player development and building confianza in every player.

Coach Juan Zamora (2017B Red) stated, “The course focuses on fostering a love for the game, building confidence, and developing players to their full potential by helping them grow through proper training and positive environments.”

Orgullosos de nuestros entrenadores por seguir invirtiendo en su crecimiento y en el desarrollo de nuestros jugadores.

Thank you NorCal for supporting the continued growth of our club and our coMUnidad.

For the past three years, Natalie Olivares has been part of the Merced United Leadership Academy, and we are proud to see the leader she continues to become.

Natalie is a 2008 Girls player at Merced United, a junior at Merced High School, and carries a 4.15 GPA. Through MULA, she was connected with many local leaders, learned about countless career opportunities, and even programs like Getting Down to Facts III through the Stanford Accelerator for Learning. Getting Down to Facts III is a statewide research effort looking at how California’s education system is working and how it can improve. What makes it powerful is that students are part of the process. Their voices help shape the research, the questions being asked, and how the findings are shared.

Natalie shared this about her experience, “As a member of a Stanford research group focused on California school systems, I had the opportunity to collaborate with students from different counties and backgrounds. The environment bas been welcoming and supportive, encouraging open discussion on educational challenges. I feel confident and safe voicing my opinions, knowing they are valued as part of a collective effort to improve our schools. This experience has shown me that student input can drive meaningful change, and I am hopeful that our contributions will help shape a more inclusive education system.”

We are proud of the way Natalie represents our club on and off the field. Leadership, academics, and using your voice matter here. She is setting the standard.

Proud MU moment 🖤❤️ Chris Chavez and his daughter Bella Starr Chavez both earned their U.S. Soccer Referee Licenses this season, continuing to grow their love and understanding of the game together.

“MU means more than just soccer, it means family united as one,” Chris shared, adding that seeing Bella earn her referee license shows her desire “to learn more than just play soccer, but to truly understand the game.” Bella echoed that spirit with a simple reminder: “Don’t stop learning about soccer at any age. Feed the brain.”

Homegrown. Learning together. Never Giving Up. This is what comMUnity looks like at Merced United.
