Your first class is free to try! At Metrowest Kung Fu, we teach traditional Chinese martial arts in order to enrich both our students and our community. Through the instruction of a rare and ancient Kung Fu style known as Huaquan (as well as Yang Style Tai Chi), we give our students a well-rounded approach to deal with life’s problems, survive life’s struggles, and appreciate life’s gifts.

Lions practice collecting red envelopes. “Feeding” the lion a red envelope (“hongbao” or “laisee”) with money inside it during the lion dance will “activate” the blessings of good luck, protection, and prosperity that the lion offers. Importantly, this is usually how lion dancers get paid for their performances, especially when volunteering for community events. How much money to put in the red envelope varies; most people put $5, $10, or $20. For individual audience members $20 is considered a generous but reasonable amount. You should never put $4 in the envelope - in China 4 is an unlucky number associated with death. You should also not put coins in the envelope. We hope to see you at our next performance!
